The GOT one is impressive because streaming wasn’t the monster that it is now
This is JUST streaming, right? If so, GOT probably received 3x that in actual cable viewing

Less episodes than any other show in the Top 10 and waaaaaayyyy more streaming minutes than all of them.

Nielson ratings are lies in and of themselves. It's too easy to game the system and Bezos is definitely gaming the system, Amazon owns most of the servers that host the content for streaming services. It's a monopoly that needs to be broken up.
From Nielson:
From article on the subject:
From Nielson:
quote:
Nielsen Streaming Platform Ratings uses people-powered panels and proprietary metering technology to measure what content is streamed, the device used to stream (smart TVs, connected devices, video game consoles), and the streaming source application.
From article on the subject:
quote:
Nielsen’s Streaming Video Ratings will use the same national panel that measures linear television, ensuring data is directly comparable and can be meaningfully analyzed next to TV viewership. The company’s already installed roughly 9,000 streaming meters, which operate like linear meters to provide a picture of how households are consuming content.
quote:
For now, measurements and ratings will be captured only on television screens and those devices that interact with TV screens: smart TVs, connected devices and video-gaming consoles. Anyone lying in bed with a laptop or watching on a tablet or smartphone won’t be included in the initial count.

You highlighted this as if it proves it's inherently wrong. 9000 is plenty if that sample of 9000 households is representative of the country. Most presidential polls are 1500 or fewer people IIRC.
The no laptops and phones does seem like it probably undercounts younger viewers. But I don't think it's out of line to say that people that watch streaming TV on an actual TV watched a lot of LOTR. It was new and Prime is "free" for most people because they get it for the shipping.
The true test will be next weeks' ratings to see if it held up. There was a lot of bad press and "pretty but boring" kind of reviews, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it drop the following week.

It’s only the first two episodes, dude. I watched the prologue for instance and thus was counted in here for one of them. This is very misleading.

That’s not the ‘win’ you think it is.
Hilariously less so now that ep 6 has been seen.

Nope.
You were counted for the amount of minutes of the prologue that you watched.
You can hold your head high. You only counted for roughly 7 or so of the nearly 1.2 Billion minutes that were streamed.

Misleading for every show on that list, or just the Amazon show you hate?
