Why didn’t Triton deal with Ursula earlier. She had clearly enslaved a shite ton of folks. And all he had to do was kill her or perform some badass magic to save them.

What a shitty King. No wonder Ariel wanted to bang human dick.

I watched The Little Mermaid not to long ago. It's not nearly as good as I remember. Great music, but lots of logic issues.

Its based on the decisions and thought process of a 16 year old girl

So yeah, not much logic involved

She couldn't write him a note because the merfolk don't use the same writing system as the humans.

Triton couldn't just go kill Ursula any time because she's about as powerful as he is.

So he’s a pussy afraid to fight for his people?

I mean Eric rode a ship that had been sitting at the bottom of the sea rotting for god knows how long and gutted that bitch.

I've always wondered if she kept her fish genitalia.

One ... Cut a hole in the box.
Two ... Put your junk in that box.
Three ... Make her open the box.

This isn’t a plot hole. They signed contracts also. He and his Trident weren’t above the law.

Didn't want to exert his merman privilege.

doesn't mean they were his. there is an entire ocean of merpeople. don't be so dense.

go to war against an ocean super power over something that probably doesn't concern your kingdom? you don't think Triton studied Surface relations and history and learned a thing or two from the crusades, nam , etc.

the city was thriving and booming. Look at that gala he threw for Ariel...I don't even think it was her birthday. Their MerNASDAQ was probably off the charts.

FIFY and yes. he was. he used his other daughters to put on a concert and celebrate his favorite child. I can only imagine all the years of neglect they had to endure once Ariel's smug arse came along.

He couldn't do anything because those people made a choice to go to her. They signed the contract without reading the stipulations

He did kick her out of the palace. I can't remember she says it in the movie but in my kids storybook and the audio story she definitely mentions it, also mentions something about being kicked out for being too ambitious. Maybe he didn't know what she was doing in that cave.

ETA: like others said, they willfully signed themselves over with being part of her "garden" as part of the consequence of not being able to pay what they owed her.

TLM had some plot holes for sure but IMO the side characters were a lot of fun, Pat Carrol did a hell of a job on making Ursula a charismatic villain, and the music was awesome. It was exactly what Disney needed at the time.

I’m fairly certain they were siblings in a draft. Would make sense why he wouldn’t take her out.

Did you just make this up?

Also, to answer the original question: she didn't know what a f*cking fork was, so she was probably illiterate.
