So I'm rewatching this for the 100th time and thinking, "Man, she must be 90 years old or something" and remember as a kid thinking this actress would be dead in 5 years. Hook was made in 1991. Maggie Smith is still working obviously, notably on Downton Abbey.

Maggie Smith was born in 1934 and turns 80 this month. I thought she was pushing that in 1991! Which makes her only 57 when Hook came out.

Mind blown

She's a classic actress. One of my favorites.

Maggie Smith might be the best casting of Harry Potter, and they had a ton of good choices.

Makes that ridiculous makeup job on Guy Pierce in Prometheus look even worse.

I love me some Maggie Smith. She is hilarious

Maggie Smith factoid

She is one of the rare actors who has won an Academy Award, Emmy, Golden Globe and Tony.

And one of six actors to win the Best Actress Academy Award as well as Supporting Actress Academy Award.

I still dont understand why the hell they cast him.

Complete waste for how little he was in it and the make up was Medellín bad.

Holy shite.

Peter Pan's daughter, but I'm sure someone has brought this up before

And the little black kid sounds like Malcolm X when knighting for Pan, but I digress

As we learned in 30 Rock, this is called EGOTing (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony). Only a handful of people have done it, mostly composers as you might imagine. Surprisingly, Whoopi Goldberg has also EGOTed.

I agree she was great in that role, but the guy who played Snape was just perfect. There are some articles about his character development and how when the first movies came out, he was the only person in the world other than Rowling who she told how the story would end so that he could properly portray his character in leading up to the revelations about him in the final book/movie.
