Do you think if boiling melted gold was poured on Dany, she’d be unphased?

Jon: My real father was Rheagar Targaryen.

Dany: That would mean I'm your ... aunt...

Rewatched Ep 1 of Season 8 again

Speaking of which, what is general consensus about the new introduction graphics?

It’s not a plot hole. Targaryens are not all immune to fire. Hell, in the books, Dany gets burned riding Drogon.

GRRM even said that Dany isn't immune to fire. She is heat resistant, but she survived the bonfire that birthed her dragons because of the blood magic involved.

Agreed, but keep in mind, she burned the hut thing down with all the Khal's in it a few seasons ago and was completely unscathed. Book Dany seems to like her baths extra hot and needs blood magic to survive fire. Show Dany seems to be totally immune to fire. Not sure it will matter unless Jon has to turn against her and tries to burn her with his new dragon.

Did he ever say it was blood magic? All descriptions I’ve seen from him are simply that it was a miracle and she probably wouldn’t survive a similar event. I think everything else has been fan speculation.

Yeah, show Dany is fully immune. It honestly just makes sense that way after season 1.

Seems like they would need to work in some official recognition from The Citadel in order for it to carry weight rather than just Sam’s claim.

Ah, "the rodeo". Classic.

While we are on topic.

I think back to the conversation Jon and Aemon Targ had at Castle Black. I found the dialogue below.

quote:

Maester Aemon : Tell me, did you ever wonder why the men of the Night's Watch take no wives and father no children?

Jon Snow : No.

Maester Aemon : So they will not love. Love is the death of duty. If the day should ever come when your lord father was forced to choose between honor on the one hand and those he loves on the other, what would he do?

Jon Snow : He... He would do whatever was right. No matter what.

Maester Aemon : Then Lord Stark is one man in 10,000. Most of us are not so strong. What is honor compared to a woman's love? And what is duty against the feel of a newborn son in your arms? Or a brother's smile?

Jon Snow : Sam told you.

Maester Aemon : We're all human. Oh, we all do our duty when there's no cost to it. Honor comes easy then. Yet sooner or later in every man's life there comes a day when it's not easy. A day when he must choose.

Jon Snow : And this is my day? Is that what you are saying?

Maester Aemon : Oh, it hurts, boy, Oh, yes. I know.

Jon Snow : You do not know! No one knows. I may be a bastard, but he is my father and Robb is my brother!

Maester Aemon : [chuckles] The gods were cruel when they saw fit to test my vows. They waited till I was old. What could I do when the ravens brought news from the South? The ruin of my House, the death of my family? I was helpless, blind, frail. But when I heard they had killed my brother's son, and his poor son, and the children. Even the little children!

Jon Snow : Who are you?

Maester Aemon : My father was Maekar, the First of his Name. My brother Aegon reigned after him, when I had refused the throne, and he was followed by his son Aerys, whom they called the Mad King.

Jon Snow : You're Aemon Targaryen.

Maester Aemon : I am a master of the Citadel, bound in service to Castle Black and the Night's Watch. I will not tell you... to stay or go. You must make that choice yourself, and live with it for the rest of your days. As I have.

If Jon brings it up to Dany she’s likely to go all out mad-queen and conclude that they are all conspiring against her.

If Jon brings it up to Sansa she’s likely to use it against him and claim the north for herself.

I just can’t see this playing out well for AegonVI.

Jon will end up sacrificing himself as the new Night King and take the dead back beyond the wall. Then in 1000 years he will want to go back to winterfell and the cycle repeats itself.

They’re really laying it on thick and I have no doubt Jon ends up plunging his sword (long claw, not dick) into her heart becoming the prince that was promised.

Seems they are setting Dany up as almost a villain but something will happen where she will sacrifice herself.

I have no idea TBH. I mean, she's completely withstood giant fires twice now, so I don't know how that would work. I'm sure she'd be pissed at first, but just stand in another fire and melt it off I guess

Jon: "Bend the knee! No! both of them and while you're down there let's continue what happened on the ship!"

Finishes and says : Oh by the way you're my aunt!"

I think it goes pretty simply

Jon spends the next episode all in his feelings while trying to deal with the news. Dany senses the tension and pushes him on what's wrong. Jon may not want to create a divide but considering he's totally honest to a fault, he tells her. She will obviously be crushed and while he will probably go on and on about how much he doesn't want the throne and how he still is loyal to her and how she is still the rightful queen, she probably is still off put trying to handle with the news herself

It will create drama for this week and will roll into next week until sometime during the battle where either one dies in the other's arms and makes a final declaration of love. Or they both survive and through fighting in the battle together, one puts their claim aside following, probably jon.

I'm just not convinced on how the whole marriage proposal arc ends. I think dany is about that incestuous life, but idk about Jon

Dany goes in for a kiss
Jon pulls back and says: “It’s time to up the Auntie”
Jon picks her up and kisses her.
After a good 30 seconds, Dany suddenly gets confused and says:
“Wait a minute, what did you say Auntie or ante?”

OR,
Dany: When will we get a moment alone?
Jon: tonight you’ll get Nephew.

I don't think Jon says anything until the bitter end.
