How does someone who is good enough to defeat a top fighter in Okinawa (he was "Sato's best student" according to Yuki if I remember right) come back to the USA and struggle against some punk American, Barnes?

my kids are 8 & 11. they watched the new KK movie with W. Smith's kid and they liked it. then... i showed them the original 1 & 2, and they've never asked again to watch the one with Smith's kid, which i personally still haven't seen. i guess i will someday, but i'm so frickin proud of my kids!!

DL didn't have 500 people with hand drums against Barnes either.

Exactly. Even though he was on the road in Okinawa, it was virtually like a home match because so many there were rooting for him.

Kind of like when the Saints play the Falcons in Atlanta.

Reading that Simmons article reminded me of the airport scene..LINK

Go to 1:00 in. Daniel tells Miyagi "You're more important than college....you're more important than anything to me.." Yikes.

Also, why are they talking about college? He turned 15 in the first one, and the second one picks up immediately after the tournament, and then jumps forward 6 months. So college is still years away for Danyasan. Weird.

BTW, you can watch Karate Kid 2 on youtube: LINK

Daniel is definitely a senior in KK1. As evidenced that when he returns in 3 he is not in HS.

the amount of candles on a cake are not proof of any age. I haven't had the correct number of candles on a cake since i was like 5.

Also, I think that I've watched KK2 more than KK1. The glory of love scene is amaaaazing.

Part II definitely takes the Miyagi-Danielson whispers from Part I and turns them into murmurs. No wonder Ali bailed.

What's worse, what's the over-protective Mom doing in all this? She just finds out about Daniel's secret nights with Miyagi at the tournament...then 4 months later he's dropping his whole life for Miyagi...this is where Karate Kid veers and takes the John Hughes route:

She was a somewhat normal parent in Part I who was involved in her kids life...and then suddenly, post-Miyagi entering the scene...she completely disappears and doesn't exist. Not only does Miyagi push Mom out of the picture but he pushes Ali out too.

So Daniel goes from a regular kid with a Mom and girlfriend who plays soccer...to a karate kid who spends all his time with an old Japanese maintenance dude.

I think he's supposed to be, but I think it's a movie mistake then to have 15 candles on the cake.

Lammo was prolly just high when he did your candles.
