At first glance the cover for this movie makes it look like it's a kids movie....

But the actual substance of it is an entirely different thing and holy shite, it's definitely something I would not allow my kids to watch.

Dark is an understatement. It's so dark not even Marvel has the balls to do with its live action movies what DC animation did here.

But all in all, it's like Infinity War and Endgame packed into one movie and the idea of Darkseid knowing the League's every move before they make it and completely slaughtering them is definitely a great innovative twist. That and Constantine and Etrigan being boys drinking their days away, Superman having kryptonite in his blood, Lois Land beating the shite out Harley Quinn, the rest of the league being completely disfigured as Darkseid's slaves, and Batman being Darkseid's right hand man.

I can't wait to see what the new Flashpoint is going to look like. Damn it Barry!!! Look at what you did!!!

It does a great job of maintaining realism while staying true to the source material of the characters themselves. It even keeps Superman the bright and colorful character he is in this dark and gritty hell scape of a world both on Earth and Apokolips and that's a very difficult feat.

Great movie. A job well done to DC animation.

Yeah, it was definitely a great watch.

I can say that I am legitimately surprised with just how dark they let it be.

Glad to know that my boy Constantine wasn't a bitch in the end. However, I figured it would have to go down how it did.

I want to see more of Evil Batman and indifferent Lex.

Some of the DC Universe Animated movies are fantastic. Flashpoint Paradox and the DC Showcase (especially the Spectre) are really well done.

Compared to Constantine: City of Demons are we talking as dark or darker?

My favorite was Under the Red Hood. Flash Point was pretty good too.

DC is good with animated stuff.

This was a culmination of the storyline that began with Flashpoint Paradox and Justice League: War.

It was very good, and a good end to the animated series. A little sad it's over.

I hope now that they are going to reset it, moving forward they keep the same style

I also found out that much of this storyline we see, with Apokolips conquering earth, and the Flashpoint were the same setup themes we saw in the live cinematics. The scenes with Desert ranger batman, evil Superman, Flash in a vision to Bats about "saving her" or whatever shite that was. In the movies, they never really fleshed that out, nor will they get to now that it's been put out to pasture. And since I'm not a comic reader or follower, it was interesting to see in the animated version a sense of where the DCeu was heading

Where can I find the three movies for rent of course? Amazon, Hulu, Netflix etc? I have begun searching but no luck yet.

Thanks all.

All of DC's animated stuff can be found on their streaming service, except for this one (it can be found on Amazon so I'm guessing the others can as well).

I watched this last week and "dark" is certainly truth in advertising. This was a fantastic, gritty movie that took many a crazy and unexpected turn. Pitting Trigon against Darkseid and then booming it all out of existence was almost as much fun as watching a rage-filled Superman grabbing Darkseid by the eye sockets and rag-dolling him.

The ending was perfect. 10/10

I loved it. I started a thread on it once I finished it: LINK

Basically I just talked about how I loved what DC did with their DCAMU that started with Flashpoint Paradox and ended with Apokolips War, and how it's a shame that DC couldn't do something similar with their regular movie universe.

I didn't read the post due to spoilers, but are there movies I need to watch before this? I watched several with Batman and his son and I remember watching a Flashpoint.

Here is a link to a list of the DCAMU movies that are in this universe. Just don't read past the movie list because there are spoilers down in the body of the page.

You can probably skip Hush and Wonder Woman: Bloodlines (although I like Bloodlines ok other than they time jump alot without a lot of heads up). But you should probably watch the rest.

You don't need to watch them, but watching them does help pull you into the story more by being more familiar with the characters.

Other than Death of Superman leading into Reign of the Supermen, I don't think that any of those DC films rely on seeing prior movies.

They don't rely on seeing the prior movies, but they are all linked in the same universe, and you get a better understanding of the characters and their relationships (such as Damian/Bruce/Dick, Damian/Raven, Clark/Diana/Lois, and Constantine/Zantanna). Also in Apokolips War, without seeing Death of Superman and the Reign of the Supermen, you wouldn't fully understand why Superman is so intent on trying to kill Darkseid at the beginning of the movie.
