its an incredibly original movie and still holds up to this day.

Incredible music, visuals, score, everything. Elfman crushes this movie musically.

Kids watched it for the first time and they loved it.

Anyone still love this movie?

To this day I still want to see the other worlds in the forest, especially Thanksgiving

I hated musicals as a kid and refused to watch this one. I missed out, but I still don't think I would have been able to appreciate it as a kid. As an adult, I find it incredible. I have the same thoughts as you on how special it is.

I did this a couple of years ago.

I had completely forgotten just how much music is in this movie. It can damn near be classified as a musical. I never would have remembered it or classified it as such as a kid.

And of course I assume Hot Topic and Spencer's continue to make a small fortune off of their merch all these years later.

ETA: Oogie Boogie definitely creeped me out as a kid.

Love it. Watch it several times each Holiday season.

The overlay with it they do at Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion every fall is awesome.

Was just discussing this the other day.

Frankly, while enjoyable, I still believe it pales in comparison to Burton/Elfman's other animated collaboration:

Better music, higher quality animation, superior characters, much more clever plot. Just a superior film all the way around, and our go-to annual Hallowe'en viewing.

I think Tim Burton is a master filmmaker.

I’ve been looking for it, but to be honest, I’m very surprised “The Nightmare Before Christmas” has not been adapted to Broadway. I’ve seen the odd skit or two over my search, but it seems like a no-brainer to adapt to that format.

I get anywhere from 2-5 re-watches between October 1 and Christmas Day. It’s one of the things I love about having a 9 year old

As true as this may or may not be, it has little relevance to this thread.

Nightmare Before Christmas was directed by Henry Selick. Burton came up with the character pitches and most of the story, but both he and Caroline Thompson (screenwriting credit) had very little to do with the actual production and final product.

It's one of my 2 year old's favorite movies - she's been asking for "Jack" for about 7 months straight.

Still my favorite movie from my childhood.

Music, animation, story, etc...all fantastic. Selick did a fantastic job.

Yup, most people don’t realize this I’ve found out. I also thought Burton directed it until I was in college.

Selick has some great films. Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach and Coraline, all great.

Yep. So few original stories out there, it seems.

This one stands the test of time.

We watch Nightmare Before Christmas every year. My 7 year old loves it. Coincidentally, we also watched yesterday and I could not agree with you more. Fantastic film.

And the O'Hara woman owes her career to him (Beetlejuice).

It's amazing. I wish they did it at World too.
