Just finished first episode of The Expanse. Did I find a good one?

Kind of hooked. Seems like a lot of characters and things happening in episode 1.

It’s very good IMO. One of the better political sci-fi series out there. Amazon picked up the series so season 3 just dropped on Prime.

It's very good. I watched the first two seasons and loved it. I no longer have cable, so I haven't been keeping up with it. I'm pretty sure the first 3 seasons are on Amazon. I need to get caught up.

So is the next season going to be an Amazon exclusive/original type thing? Will be easier for me to keep up with then. Hardest part will be getting back into it and remembering all the details of what I've already watched.

Heh, that is weird, I watched the first episode last night for the first time and really liked it. I'm glad to hear that others on here like the series, I need something to watch since I just finished my Chuck rewatch.

Expanse is amazing.

It's the most grounded Sci-Fi in a lot of ways. Then there's the the way-out-there stuff that gets weirder and weirder and makes the later seasons (and books) get progressively stranger. It's kind of like GoT. The Westerosi infighting is the focus, and is a lot of fun to watch. But the real problem is the White Walkers, or in this case the Ring Builders/Protomolecule

One of George RR. Martin's assistants wrote the books. Each season follows a book pretty spot on so far. Next season should be pretty different but awesome.

I’ve been binge watching it. I guess I stumbled across it with amazon picking it up. I really like the story and love the way they handle the physics in space. Only bad thing is I think a lot of the accents remind of bad Cajun accents. Not that they sound the same, but they’re a bit over done.

A lot of themes are very similar and some of the characters are lifted straight out of GOT scripts, but the flow of the show is a little different.
The Expanse vacillates from sci-fi detective noir to space opera to sci-fi horror, sometimes within an episode, and it does it very well.
It helps that the writers of the book series are in the writer's room for every episode.

I have been intending to watch The Expanse for some time. I binged Season One this weekend and really enjoyed the mish-mash of genres.
One question: Is Shohreh Aghdashloo the worst actress of all time, or merely one of the half-dozen worst actresses of all time?

She catches some hate but I mostly liked her. TV show character is like 20% as crude as book her. Hated Draper at first but I liked her more and more.

I don't like her either. But the show is so good that she doesn't bother me too much.
