Set your DVRs folks,The night features 5 Ford films, including one new documentary on the legendary filmmaker.
Man Who Shot Liberty Valance 7 pm
The Searchers 9:15 pm
The Battle of Midway (WWII footage doc) 11:45 pm
John Ford: The Man who invented America 12:15 am
The Grapes of Wrath 1:15 am
Cheyenne Autumn 3:30 am
I would have personally swapped out the latter with The Quiet Man, it was Fords passion project he never thought he could get made.

Fun Fact:
MPAA made O'Hara put her hand on the Duke's chest because you could see his nipples.
The hand is literally there just to cover his nipple.

Hell, half thw old westerns have a scene with a dude in a bathtub or jumping in a river or something, but no wet t shirt for Duke... Makes sense

IDK, that's what O'Hara said.
Maybe they got more prudish or maybe the guys jumping in rivers had longjohns on.

And it does sort of make sense, because her hand is not natural, it's literally moving as he moves to just cover the nipple.

MOH was devastating. The ginger to end all gingers.
If her testimony to Congress about the Duke doesn't bring a tear to your eye, you have no soul.

I've never noticed it before but rewatching Liberty Valance again it's stunning how Wayne blows everyone else in the film off the screen, including Stewart and Marvin.
He still kind of had it as an old man, but in his prime of about 45-65, there was never another screen presence or pure movie star icon bigger. Even in scenes where he just makes a look and says nothing, but especially when a great director framed him like Ford or Hawks, is when you see it most.
I could only imagine going to a huge old theater in the 40s or 50s and seeing something like The Searchers or Rio Bravo on the big screen for the first time.

Scorcese talks about seeing it as a kid and still refers to it as some Holy Grail - moment in his life.

That only makes it more tantalizing.
