You're the one that said best part of the season like you said you were finished with it.

I never even opened this thread until I was finished with the season.

I really think it needs to be understood if you're jumping into a thread about a Netflix show on this board when you're still not done yet is a thing that's highly inadvisable. It's no different than a movie.

We're about half done with it, and so far it's not too bad. It definitely takes a step back from Season 1, though. David Tennant had a huge impact, obviously.

While Trish's story arc was kinda meh I thought Rachael Taylor did a good job with what she had to work with. The main problem is without a villain like Killgrave then Jessica Jones gets a bit dull and repetitive. It felt like the show was stuck in neutral the whole time and to be honest... after the first couple of of Hogarth scenes I started fast forwarding through them.

I had just got finished with a binge watch of the last season of Agents of Shield and I couldn't wait to start a new episode. With this... I sort of dragged myself across the finish line and watching the next episode felt more like an obligation.

It will suffer the same problem that Dark Knight Rises, Daredevil season 2, and the second half of Luke Cage had - a villain that just cannot compete with the first villain that came around

I know that, but he's not the primary antagonist of season 2.

It's not that simple though. People come to these threads to get the general impression to see if it's worth their time. I don't like separate spoiler and non spoiler threads either because I feel that limits discussion. For Altered Carbon I started a hybrid thread and put Spoilers on Page 3 in the title once the spoilers cropped up. People still came posting at the end of the thread looking for impressions.

I'm not sure what the solution is, but at the very least you should spoiler tag something on page 2. That was pretty early for spoilers to come out in one of these.

Season 2 was a good drama. Jessica is a tragic character that has to overcome a shite ton of personal baggage.

Season 2 was not a good super hero show. Not only is there the usual Jessica would rather use her PI skills than her super strength, this was a very personal story arc. Pretty much the only people in danger the whole time were those with close ties to her. In season 1 Killgrave was going around the city killing people on a whim and had to be stopped. Season 2 the threat could have ended before it started if Trish Walker would have minded her own business instead of continually digging up Jessica's past.

Should you watch it? I liked JJ the character in S1. I know a lot of you only thought S1 was good because of Killgrave. If you liked JJ you should watch season 2. If you only liked Killgrave then you should probably skip it.

Just finished it. It was just ok. The women agenda crap in it is ridiculous, but I don't have a problem ignoring crap like that.

The lack of a villain sucked, but I did enjoy the story with jessica. Trishs character is terrible. I wish she would die, and I do not look forward to seeing any more of her in any capacity.

I think both JJ and luke cage should be combined in future seasons. They could both have their own story arc, while interacting from time to time. Neither are interesting enough to carry a season without some serious help.

Since some people haven't watched the whole season yet...

**********DANGER! HERE THERE BE SPOILERS!**********

Season 2 was a deep delve into Jessica's past and character, so any expecting the crazy mind-frick of Season 1 would understandably be disappointed.

I, on the other hand, enjoyed this season for the personality-defining season it was. Although the first couple of episodes seemed a bit too loose (like the writers were scared of getting things started), it quickly picked up steam as we got to learn about Jessica's history. The story had just enough twists to keep it interesting without being convoluted with twists or looking like the writers were trying too hard to be too clever.

Trish's character annoyed the frick out of me, but I think that was by design. Her character annoyed the audience just like she was annoying Jessica.

Hogarth's fall then rise from the ashes was well done (especially her revenge on both her partners and the con team). I feel like she's being set up to be a ruthless female version of Kingpin, all she needs is one more thing to happen to completely obliterate her ability to trust others.

With Trish now having gained powers but having also estranged herself from Jessica and Jessica basically finding a new family, the stage is set for a Season 3 where we see the two in dramatic conflict. This ante could be upped if Trish is more Frank Castle than Jessica Jones. To be fair though, they'll need an actual villain to fight so it doesn't devolve into becoming episode after episode of crying and eating ice cream.

I see it going in a different direction. Jessica finally seemed ready to stop being a shut in and opened up a little to being a hero by the end of the season. I predict that Trish is going to get in over her head going after a bad guy and that will pull Jessica into the mix to save her.

Season 2 was garbage!!!!! It was as bad as Iron Fist. They better change their direction with season 3 if they want to keep viewers.

If they want to advance Hellcat as a character, they have to introduce Hellstrom and the Midnight Sons.

Agreed.

I thought the small scope was great, same for the Punisher. The more personal the stories get for the Netflix shows, the better. The more we got into the "end of the world" stuff with the Defenders, the less focused it became.

I couldn't force myself to give a frick about Jessica's mom no matter how hard I tried. She was a garbage character that was terribly written and poorly portrayed, as was Dr. Graphic Tee.

I still like Jessica, Malcolm and Trish, but this season was just bad compared to the first.

Nailed it!

I think people dislike it, because they were expecting and wanting a Superhero type story. This was nothing of the sort. It was a very personal drama set in a superhero world focused on a person with powers. Outside of that this was a detective story focused on the main character.

[SPOILERS]

I thought it was very good, and I was fine with no true bad guy or superhero plot. The mother was a great character with truly complex depth. The actress really pulled that off bigtime. Jessica's development was very strong and complex, and it was true to the character.

The thing that kept this from being a great season was the reliance on loose threads to get from one plot point to another.

The BIGGEST flaw of the entire season, so big that it ruined much of my enjoyment of it, was the Doctor's suicide. No fricking way that dude kills himself. That was nothing more than the writers trying to find a way to get Mom angry and going on a rampage. Then when that happens the rampage was completely tame. That's truly bad writing. There were a few other instances similar to this where loose, illogical threads were created to move to desired plot points.

I like how they worked Trish to become Hellcat. I didn't like how much screen time Hogarth received, but her story was intriguing. Her revenge was badfrickingass. Malcolm may be my favorite character of the season. His story and character are quite compelling, and his being the anchor to tether Jessica to humanity was fantastic. The way they ended was perfectly done.

I get the hate, but I believe once you watch this without expectations of a superhero story then you will enjoy it much more. I did this due to visiting this thread prior to watching, and I believe it really helped my experience with it.

After finishing the season I kind of wouldn't mind a limited series that focuses on Hogarth getting revenge on people who cross her. She may as well be a faster working version of Emily Thorne w/the way she served up that cold AF destruction of those two grifters.
