Dumb & Dumber, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, and The Mask all in the same year.
Other have had great decades but what about a single year?
Gene Wilder had Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles in 1974 and that’s as close as I can find.

A few mentions:
Robin Williams had 6 movies come out in 2006, including:
Happy Feet
Night at the Museum
RV
Man of the Year
Adam Sandler 1998:
Wedding Singer
Waterboy
Michael J. Fox 1985:
Back to the Future
Teen Wolf
Poison Ivy (Made for TV movie, but I remember it being decent)
Steve Martin:
1986: Three Amigos & Little Shop of Horrors
1987: Roxanne & Planes, Trains and Automobiles
1991: LA Story & Father of the Bride
Tim Allen in 1999:
Galaxy Quest, Toy Story 2, final season of Home Improvement
Tom Hanks had several years with two great movies, but it was usually a comedy plus a drama, like 1995 with Toy Story and Apollo 13.
Though the closest I can find is probably John Candy:
1987 - Spaceballs & Planes, Trains and Automobiles
1985 - Brewster's Millions & Summer Rental & The Volunteers & Follow That Bird
1989 - Who's Harry Crumb & Cannonball Fever & Uncle Buck
**OR**
Dan Akroyd:
1988 - The Couch Trip, The Great Outdoors, My Stepmother is an Alien (and Caddyshack II as well)

In 1933, WC Fields appeared in International House, Tille & Gus, and Alice in Wonderland (as Humpty Dumpty, no less):
He also wrote and starred in three shorts: The Barber Shop, The Pharmacist, and, in what is in my esteemed opinion the greatest 18 minutes ever committed to celluoloid:
The Fatal Glass of Beer

Ben Stiller had a pretty solid year in 2004:
Along Came Polly
Starsky and Hutch
Envy
Anchorman (cameo)
Dodgeball
Meet the Fockers

I guess I'm ignorant on tbe topic but doesn't it take a long arse time to film a movie, like at least a year? How is it even possible to play the main lead in multiple movies that come out in the same year

No the post production of a film can take up to a year, but filming itself usually takes a couple of months.

Chevy Chase was pretty up there in 1985:
Fletch
Spies Like Us
National Lampoon's European Vacation
Nicolas Cage had a solid 1987 with Moonstruck and Raising Arizona.

Loved Poison Ivy - both the Michael J Fox version and the Drew Barrymore version!

Envy should not be included on that list because it was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. And I say that as a huge Stiller and Jack Black fan. His 2004 is the only thing that is in consideration with Carey’s 94.
