Don't like it, don't watch it.

Rogue One is the best SW movie since the original trilogy. How high up it is overall just depends on how you feel about Return of the Jedi.

A New Hope gets dogged too much. It was revolutionary and there's a reason it set the stage for all the following movies.

Totally agree. I thought it was pretty boring tbh. Its obviously one of the better Disney star wars efforts though.

Losing the fantasy element hurts it a bit.

The original trilogy is about a warrior princess, a knight and his squire, a dashing rogue, his loyal companion, and the pair of droids for cool and comedy. It's a fantasy epic dressed up in sci-fi clothing.

I would even argue that those elements still exist in the Mandalorian to some extent. He's the wayward member of a warrior race.

You have lightsabers instead of magic swords, the Force instead of magic, and blasters in place of crossbows and bows (hell, Chewbacca USES a blaster crossbow).

TFA still stuck to this formula for the most part. TLJ tried to make Star Wars something it really wasn't and abandoned most of it. Instead of magic, the Force is an acid trip.

Rogue One is still a good show, but it works way closer to pure sci-fi than most od the other movies. And honesly Solo isn't bad. It's a heist movie.

Agreed, but I’m still gonna go home and watch Rogue One again. It’s so freaking good. There are multiple scenes significantly better than anything in A New Hope, but Episode IV has such incredible world building, score, visuals, tone, and pacing. A New Hope is like the perfect stand-alone fantasy/adventure movie.

Rogue one has these incredible action set pieces. The ambush scene, the beach battle with the At-At’s, Vader wrecking shop like a boss, The moral dilemma with Jen, the sniper, her father, and the x-wings, etc. So many great tense scenes. It’s like a gripping non-campy war/spy thriller in the Star Wars universe. Then, it perfectly sets up Episode 4, which has that perfect campy hero’s journey. I recommend watching the two films back to back as they’re both pretty much perfect foils that complement each other well.

Personally, I put Rogue One at 4, but that may just be due to nostalgia bias for the old trilogy I grew up watching.

Empire goes without saying

It's definitely at least third.

Its up there, probably 4 but its close to 3 - obviously has the best battle sequence which I think is worth a lot.

10-11) The Last Jedi and The Clone Wars. Also in whichever order you prefer.

Rise of Skywalker may be my least favorite - Also, its Attack of the Clones. The Clone Wars is the really really good cartoon tv show.

Dude. This wasn't a bad movie at all. It tops many of the Marvel offerings for same type of genre. Yes, there are MacGuffins, but it's compelling and good overall.

As a SW fan at a young age, it works for me.

My ranking would be:
1. Star Wars (A New Hope) - started the whole thing
2. Empire - the best actual movie
3. Rogue One - Sets up the above and is both hope and dark
4. ROTJ - But only need to watch 15 mins of Luke/Vader/Palp scenes
5. TFA - Daisy Ridley and Oscar Isaac are good here.
6. ROTS - Had some moments, but failed from terrible dialogue and script. At least Ian McDiarmid did his part.
7. Solo - Not a bad movie overall, I guess. But completely uninteresting and unnecessary.
8. TPM - It's not good, but has some coherency.

The rest are absolute trash.

9. AOTC - Trash. Jedi in arena makes it #9.
10. ROS - You'd think this was the worst, until...
11. TLJ - Mind-numbing, ridiculous, pointless, stolen main plot. I don't have the words to describe how bad this movie is as an entry into SW or any blockbuster movie genre. From opening scene with Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson, this movie was - no words.

Rouge One was very good. I liked Solo too. Empire was the best.

I think it’s pretty clearly 4th behind ANH and Jedi, but even that fact that it’s a somewhat defensible take on your part really hammers home the sad truth that Star Wars really isn’t that good and never has been outside of 1 movie and a handful of memorable characters.

R.O. was decent, a solid movie, but I didn't think it had much in the way of any WOW factor. It fits nicely into the story, but the main reason it seems so impressive is because the prequels and sequels sucked so bigly.

A New Hope, despite its cutting edge shots and FX, hasn't aged all that well. ( Still, gimmie the original release over the CG garbage added in later )

And speaking of CG garbage , Princess Leia. How she came out so bad when Vader and Tarkin were close to spot on is annoying. At least that can be deep faked and fixed.

It’s very okay, the characters are flat and there’s not anything all that great but it has some nice moments and it’s gritty.

I have it at 3 above Jedi just because of the short Vader scene. It was awesome seeing him in his prime just wrecking rebels
