Is it ever explained why Conan doesn’t try and bring his chick back like she did for him?

I think I’m missing something.
I’m not going to say it bothered me but it always just seemed kinda strange that if you could bring someone back from the dead, I’d imagine he’d at least want to try

Not sure, but I always thought it was because he just kind of died and she on the other hand had a snake shot through her body.
When he came back to life he was probably just REALLY thirsty. If Valeria came back to life she’d probably just die again because of the snake arrow hole through her body. :idk:
Either that or just like every guy, he got tired of her shite and saw this as an opportunity to abort the relationship.

He was still alive when Subotai brought him back to Akiro to summon the gods/demons. Akiro told Valeria that healing Conan would "extract" a heavy toll which she was willing to pay.
Her death was the toll.
Her death was the toll.

Tide Saint has it right. Valeria was the price, and you can never take it back.
Besides, Valeria always had a fatalistic personality. "Do you want to live forever?" she asks. Clearly she doesn't. Why do that to her?
Valeria wanted her life to mean something. In the end, it does. Her sacrifice allows Conan to continue his mission of avenging his family. She even returns from the dead in a flash to aid him once more. "Even if I were dead, I would return to fight by your side," she says. Her will makes it so, without the intervention of demonic magic. It's pure that way.

Dang. I thought this was about Conan O'Brien.

If you ever read Howard’s books Conan was always changing compatriots

I have indeed read a lot of Howard and a fair amount of Conan. But book Conan and film Conan are very different. I would picture book Conan looking towards such practices as unclean sorcery.

Conan wasn't dead. He was almost dead from dehydration and exposure, but he was NOT shot through the chest with a magical snake arrow.

Yes they were mostly in Weird Tales and not stand alone books and such but story to story changed companions all the time.

Valeria was Howard's favorite, but her appearances were controversial because of the way she was described and illustrated.
Weird Tales was thought of as an unseemly semi-vulgar magazine. Working for them likely didn't win a lot of friends in hickville TX.
