My brother, you must not have seen the test screening footage from Skywalker Ranch - they absolutely knew. Even Lucas could tell it was a disaster. Let me see if I can find it.

If you've watched RLMs Mr.Plinkett then you have seen it all.

The problem wasnt the story or the ideas, the problem was they tried to shove too much shite in the movie to appeal to every single demographic on earth.

They spent a significant amount of time making sure they got in things that attracted female viewers, minority viewers, little kids, teenagers, adults, etc.

Star wars became one giant advertisement.

Hollywood does this with everything now. Representation comes before writing and story quality.

The movie wouldn't have been any better. It would have ruined his life like it it ruined Jake Lloyd's life. The problem isn't the actor, it's the age.

To be fair, the fans ruined Jake Lloyd's life. A lot of them cannot separate the actor from the role, or the writing from the actor.

Both Jake Lloyd and Kelly Marie Tran got shite on SO MUCH, and both were probably so stoked to be in something as massive as Star Wars. Then they get into these terribly written roles, with horrible direction, and do their jobs.

It's the same mentality of when a person screams at a cashier or waiter because of the price of something. Neither of them deserved the abuse they got from it. I mean, how long before Jake Lloyd was willing to act again? Aside from a single movie called Madison, he really didn't speak in front of a camera again until 2015 for a documentary.

I don't know how any actor in their right mind would have turned down those roles in Lloyd or Tran's place.

It's a lot of money and an incredibly high visibility role for an actor/actress who had never really done anything big before. It's a career making role.

Nobody is saying no to that, and neither one has any leverage over the character. Then they become outlets for fan anger vs the creators. It's dumb.

Ooooo, yeah. I'm going to have to go ahead and, sort of, disagree with you there.

The Phantom Menace. What were they thinking? They cast an actor 5 years too young for a role written for a 14 year old. It was an impossible task for little Jake Lloyd. He could have been the best actor in the universe and it wouldn't have mattered because the script wasn't written for a kid.

Is this true? It would have been more interesting for an older kid

But 14 y/o would be way too old for Jedi training right? Or were him and luke both just the oldest?

Recently rewatched Empire of the Sun. I thought young Christian Bale crushed that role. Phenomenal.

That's the problem with Hollywood today. They all think that way. Instead of a love for the craft of making a great film, they are ready to whore themselves out to sling tickets. Quality be damned.

Same thing with music.

Trans problem was that she couldn’t deal with her role being stupid so she called everyone who didn’t love it racist.

Not exactly the best approach.

The script really wasn't written for adults, either.

Anakin in the prequels should have been a character in the same mold as Dacre Montgomery's Billy from Stranger Things - an arrogant young shithead with a ton of charisma.

frick yes. You deserve MTV board flare for that point.

That doesn't appear to be what happened.

Some fans, upset at her character, attacked her on Instagram - a lot of those same people who attacked her race as well.

I tried to find an article that backed your claim, but I cannot find any. Not even message board posts.

My mistake then. I didn’t care really. Her bad character was about number 78 on my list of reasons that movie was rediculous
