I’m trying to remember a movie from my childhood

but I only vaguely remember like two scenes.
I’m remembering it as a Stand by Me type movie centered around young kids.
I wanna say there’s a scene with some bullies on dirt bikes and paintball guns.
Then I remember a really sad scene where a kid revealed to the others that he was terminally sick and there was a sad song playing.
HELP!

Tryin to remember some movie with a monster in a kids closet. All I really remember is the kid clubbing the dad with a baseball bat because he mistakes him for the monster. Dad takes kid camping or something to build his character. Monster eats mother when they are away.

Anytime I am trying to remember a movie from my childhood it is Monster Squad. It doesn't fit your description at all, but Monster Squad is awesome.
