I tried watching The Diplomat on Netflix. I bailed halfway through the 1st episode

It looks like it was made by the HR dept of a DEI firm. All the stereotypes are there:
*Strong, domineering black woman chief of staff
*Obsequious white woman diplomat who grovels a lot
*Weird looking WH staff person whose gender is a mystery.
*Female Middle Eastern CIA station chief
*Brilliant young black foreign service officer who is nicknamed "The King Maker"
*White male UK prime minister who is a misogynist and a warmonger
Does anybody still make tv shows that simply try to entertain instead of preaching a visual woke sermon?

I can’t even recall a black women being portrayed in any other way (i.e., vulnerable, weak) on shows right offhand in quite a long time
I’m not saying it hasn’t happened, obviously there’s probably many examples, just subjectively I can’t recall it.

almost every modern tv shows has a manly black woman, who is chief of the CIA/FBI/NSA. it just makes you want to laugh.
I've noticed there are two types of black women in every show. domineering manly black woman or always frowning/smug and kick arse black woman. there is no happy medium.

I have kept watching and still say it’s entertaining, but they really do hammer home that old white guys are fools that can’t get themselves dressed in the morning and a black, Asian, and white woman are controlling global war in a trio of feminine power pulling the strings of their bosses.

This is a really good show. The Hal character is great. He is the real diplomat
