These were my two favorite scenes and I forgot how great this movie was. I enjoyed the second movie but not like the first. I hope they make a third one.

Fantastic movie. Second one was rushed due to the success of the first, but it was ok.

I heard the second one was rewritten. The first half was good but the 2nd half was a let down. It’s like they were setting up for another sequel.

they kind of changed the focus to primarily Alejandro which fricked things up. also the first one had a lot of subtext and the good kind of subversion, while the 2nd is a straight forward action-thriller without any substance below the surface

Sicario is a horror movie

in response to OP, the whole portion of the movie from the arrival from the base to the return to the base is just incredible technical filmmaking

*ETA: the 2nd movie is basically trying to do that without any other substance

This is one of those movies that I have to watch whenever it's on TV. Hope they come out with a 3rd.

The opening scene, the traffic jam shootout and the tunnel search were intense as frick.

Also, the score

My favorite movie of the last 10 years.

Getting Villeneuve, Johannsson, and Deakins to all work on the same project was a miracle. The weakest part of the movie is probably Sheridan's screenplay. I think Sicario did an excellent job covering the average story with its music and cinematography, which is absolutely world-class on both fronts.

Soldado did not have any of those three players involved. Sheridan's Soldado screenplay was probably about on par with Sicario's screenplay, but Soldado was a weaker movie because it did not have the talent available to mask the weaknesses in its story the same way Sicario did. (Soldado is a good movie--just nowhere near as good as Sicario.)

I really meant it as a compliment since everything else about the movie is outstanding.

Just watched it for the first time about 2 weeks ago. I'm glad I did. It was nothing what I expected it to be, and I'm sorry I waited so long to watch because of it.

And like most horror movies, it has a whole dumptruck load of sex/gender commentary in the subtext.

The tunnel op and border chase are two of the best shot scenes of the last 10 years, just immaculate filmmaking.

I find Sheridan to be a fantastic Screen Writer.

Wind River was probably my favorite movie in 2017 and I credit to the screenwriting.

Hostiles and WR were just those type of movies that leave me unsettled in the right way.
