I had to rewatch a 2nd time to understand Dr. Schultz killing Candy, cause he knew he would be shot, so why not shake hands and leave?
I figured out that because he detested slavery, and couldn't get the slave being killed by the dogs out of his mind, he would find peace by killing Candy and whatever happened to him happened to him.
However, he wasn't thinking of the safety of Django or his wife.

Love Django.
Tarantino is one of the best comedic writers the film industry has had. It’s pretty amazing his prowess in action, drama, and comedy. And all his movies have loads of all 3.

Because it’s a movie.
I think people pointing out inconsistencies/errors/plot holes in movies as a valid criticism of the film is getting old.
I don’t know why he used a shotgun instead of a revolver. I don’t know how Jeff Goldblum made a computer virus that could infect a alien computer. I don’t know why the Avengers just didn’t steal more Pym particles first.

Killing women or children off in a movie is a sticky wicket. Since Laura was the only female character to die onscreen, maybe QT wanted to lessen the heaviness by making it over the top (almost slapstick).

Have you watched a QT movie? He does not have a problem killing women in some pretty creative and brutal ways.
