"Who's that gentleman?" -Ron

"Councilman Jeremy Jamm, you don't know him?" -Tom

"Never me him. He looks like he could use a swift punch to the face, though" -Ron

sucks the character defines Nick Offerman and when you listen to Offerman about random stuff he really seems like a cool down to earth relaxed person.

Then you hear him talk politics and he is a bleeding vagina liberal.

I’d be much happier not knowing any celebrity’s (left or right) politics. World would be much nicer if politics made up 0 percent of our social interaction with people.

I'd prefer not to know anything about them, I'm interested in their acting ability and that's about it

Meh, Offerman is a true DIYer (like Swanson) and I like to hear his tips on woodworking and other DIY related topics.

Before or after he got nerfed by the writers?

Michael Schur came out after season 2 or 3 and said they couldn't believe people identified with the character and that all his positions were supposed to be jokes.

The Ron and Tammy episodes were the high point of the series for me

He wasn't always like that... another victim of TDS.

I read his biography that came out in 2013 and he was very libertarian, not quite as much as Ron Swanson, but still far more in that direction than the average person in Hollywood.

Greatest compliment of my life was when someone said I reminded them of Ron.

It brought a year to me eye.

I was surprised they would make a likable character with views such as Ron. Given that a lot of them are the opposite of libertarians. But it makes sense that they meant for him to be a joke from their perspective.
