I was just thinking about the show and wondering how they can end the show? I mean theoretically they can create an infinite number of scenarios for the characters to endure in the zombie apocalypse. So how can they end it with closure, or will there be closure?

Will a cure be discovered?
Will the characters just create a stable and safe area to live?
Will the characters relocate to a region not affected by the zombies?
Will are all the characters just die?

Humanity would eventually adapt and learn how to live in these conditions.

I would imagine that, on the show, eventually someone will hear about some type of "safezone" and they'll spend a season or two getting to it. Kind of like BSG with earth.

The Walking Dead would be bold to end the series on a depressing note.

They will move to Detroit. We will learn that Detroit is so shitty that even the walkers left.

If everyone is infected and the death rate exceeds the birth rate, apparently by a very wide margin judging by rural Georgia, then the Walkers will eventually win.

I agree. I imagine Rick and Carl as the last 2 standing with Rick dying and Carl left to wander alone after he has to kill his father after he turns. Then we can make up our own ending from there.

I don't see how it could ever end "happily." There's no way a true safe haven could be built either. Say you build this great fortified where walkers could never get in. What happens when someone dies in there sleep one night and starts raiding the whole place?
I have to think the WD will end on a slightly optimistic note for the present characters, but a sort of bleak outlook for humanity.

Sort of like they escape some sort of dangerous situation surrounded by zombies and do find another temporary shelter, but then the camera pans up over the trees to show waves of walkers as they inevitably cover the entire earth

I see them showing us the future with Carl as an adult having grown up entirely in this world. Communities will start to form and civilization will begin to slowly come back with the zombie threat always still looming in the distance.

My final scene for me would be adult Carl roaming the streets with his son bartering for goods. Everything looks like it's getting better with kids running in the streets and trade taking place. Carl puts on the sherrif's hat and looks towards the edge of the city where we see a manned wall to remind us of the ever present danger of the zombies

I hope the writers read this board. These are some good ideas. I would enjoy all of them for the ending of the show.

I like this. But they also have to throw in a scene where his wife ask "Where is Carl"

I like this, but I'd add a scream instead at the very end to remind us of the threat and Carl turns in the direction of it. Cuts black with that walking dead noise...

Tyreese moves to Baltimore and teaches boxing.

Honestly, really no clue how it will end, but do agree that I doubt it is a happy ending.

I'd like to see them develop well armored and well trained fighting forces that can use basic ancient military tactics to clear walkers out of huge areas.

Then, when they've gotten rid of most of he walkers they can start killing each other again at the end of the series.

Of course I'd also like to see a bit more about trying to practice some basic agriculture and like to see them show what game animals and fish are around for subsistence. (though they have shown just a bit of that). That would all make for kinda boring TV though so I doubt we see it.

If a 'cure' is developed the safe haven would work.

C'mon, dude, even action figures from the show are generating $$$$$$$$$. When the money stops, maybe.

This isn't really a bold move anymore across all forms of entertainment.
