Looking for some good horror movies for my son. He is almost ten. Any recommendations ? New or classic is fine by me.

"Almost 10"?

I've got some "kid friendly" thoughts:

Gremlins
Little Shop of Horrors
Ghostbuster 1 and the latest Ghostbusters Afterlife
The Dark Crystal
Frankenweenie
Beetlejuice
Labyrinth
The Raul Julia Addams Family Movies

I'm guessing you don't want to put him into therapy with gorefest films....

I saw Signs and The Sixth Sense around that age and I loved them. I feel like that was a good starting point. Nothing too extreme in either of them.

Certainly better for him than Cannibal Apocalypse

I think A quiet place is a good intro into “horror.”

Otherwise, Gremlins.

I should have listed movies he has seen already:

-Jaws
-Monster Squad
-Predator (not really horror I know)
-Gremlins
-Tremors
-Ghostbusters (original & recent one)

Forgot just how good the original version of The Thing is. I may give it a watch this weekend myself.

1st 2 horror movies I ever saw was in 6th grade with my cousin. Our uncles were in there 20's and living together. Our parents went out of town so we stayed with the. They let us watch Candyman and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

I watched Chucky, Signs, and the Ring when I was that age. Maybe let him get a little older before watching true horror movies. Little bro should be on Halloween Town or something.

Edit: The Thing could actually be ok for a 9 year old. The twist at the end may go over his head tho.
