RT Score

Who didn’t see this coming? A completely unnecessary reboot that no one asked for. Should have just made HellBoy 3 with Ron Perlman, and it would have crushed at the box office. Guaranteed this movie only makes $15 million opening weekend.

The first two hellboy movies with Perlman did jackshit at the box office. There just isn’t a market for the character. Feel bad for David Harbour, dude got jacked for the role too. Hope it works out for him in Black Widow

I still think the movies have garnered enough of a cult following that a third one with Pearlman would have had decent success. Harbour is a great actor, just got put in a bad movie.

To be fair, Perlman is pushing 70.
Although he doesn't really look it.

Every review I've seen is that the ONLY redeeming quality about the film is Harbour's performance.

One quote I've seen is, "If you loved Seventh Son, Jupiter Ascending and R.I.P.D. you'll love this."

Yikes.

Sad to see. I was kind of looking forward to this in an I don’t have anything better to do on a Saturday kind of way.

Hellboy 2 is a better superhero movie than 90% of the MCU.

The original Hellboy was MUCH better than 2.

I would almost prefer to go back in time and kill the creator of this horrible term more than Hitler.

I kid but...

that term was created by some marketing shithead who knew the summer blockbuster they spent 200 million on was pure shite.

Hellboy 1 and 2 are fun. They aren't shite. Might not be a big market for the character but the movies were fun with nice effects and a great cast.

this movie looks like shite.

Having said that, I thought the initial movie trailer also looked like shite and I was shocked at how much I like the movie.

So, I hope the trailer isn't an indication of the quality of the movie.

Looks god awful. They should’ve just given Del Toro money for his 3rd movie

Hellboy 2 is one of the most underrated super hero films ever. It was pretty ridiculous to remake these. I understand when a movie is crappy, wanting to reboot it, but, these were actually good movies.

Nope. Search and try and find the early threads about this movie. The majority of the board was pumped.

I thought it initially made sense. The 2 previous Hellboy movies did modest business on modest budgets before full audience embrace of superhero films. Perlman is too old and GDT is too busy for a third. Get a new one out for an audience that has no memory of the earlier films. Golden Army is more than a decade old, right?

The trailers look like they brought back the trademark crass Hellboy sense of humor without any of the other qualities that make either the comics or previous movies good. They populated the supporting cast with C-list actors and hired a director who made a decent horror flick, a bunch of trash, and one great GoT episode.

Hellboy is one of my favoritie comics, but it is dark as hell, rooted in obscure history, and features very little exposition. Hellboy's voice is the most immediately distincitive characteristic. I imagine it's quite difficult to adapt to a screenplay.

Should have given us a real Hellboy 3. Golden Army was amazing. One of my favorite 2008 films.

2's visuals were freakin' amazing - the story was solid too. Both movies were good though.
