Heads up on SNL tonight. Elba hosting, funny for a change and nothing political so far.

They just did a Hulk parody where Idris turns into a “Can I speak to the manager?” type white lady when pissed and it was hilarious.

The question at the end of the game show "Can you play James Bond" was pretty good as well.

Last week was really funny.
Wasn't political except for the opening and that wasn't even that partisan.

Yeah last week was really good. They probably let Mulaney write some skits

how bored do you have to be to actually go out of your way to watch a bad show that hasnt been funny for the last 20 years all in the desperate hope it might go against the norm and be slightly amusing for a few seconds

i rather watch paint dry or listen to old people talk about their body function issues before i watch that liberal trash

This is actually the first time in at least few years that I watched SNL from the opening live.

It actually was an accident. When I saw Idris Elba come out I decided to watch.

It was pretty funny until weekend update.

After update finished with a completely unfunny, pointless (shocker) Leslie Jones appearance to close out, Elba is back with a pretty funny sketch.

Sad they had to spend 30 minutes on the horeshit weekend update.

Leslie Jones is to comedy as a corn dog floating in a mud puddle is to fine dining.

How bored do you have to be to post about some guy watching a show you haven’t liked in 20 years?

It’s funny watching the old classic episodes that air at 9 and see how little weekend update use to focus on politics. There would maybe have 2 political bits and the rest was just odd and weird new stories that they would make fun of.

It was a really good formula and a great balance especially compared to the shite they do now

I don’t even mind some politics. SNL has had political humor as long as I remember. But the trump derangement is tiresome plus we get the same stuff on every night show now.

The episode from ‘93 that they played was horrible. Nealon’s WU was laughless. If not for Opera Man and the Stones impressions, the entire segment would’ve been pointless.

That’s because Nealon was a terrible WU host. Just terrible. He isn’t really a funny guy to begin with

Occasional political comedy is funny but making it the focal point of the show is lazy, low hanging fruit. Ripping Trump is not exactly pushing the envelope.

Some of NBC's early Cultural Marxism. He played "The Politically Incorrect Detective" and that's how we all learned the expression "political correctness."

For this reason alone, he should be forced to eat his own balls.

I’ve never understood this sentiment. I always liked Nelson a lot and honestly enjoyed his hosting of WU more than anybody else’s.

And I may have to check out some of these Elba sketches. And I don’t mind political humor, but it still has to be funny. I don’t hate or like Trump, but simply going out there and saying “Trump sucks and is stupid” over and over is not humor at all. It’s lazy and offensive (to humor itself). And it also doesn’t help that Jost and Che are the two worst hosts in the show’s history. Che may even be worse than Colin Quinn, and that is saying something.

Relax

You don't have to watch the crap because someone on here will and they will report back on it.

Now I will continue to never have SNL cross my mind but I might look for the Edris Elba episode 5 years from now.
