Can I just get this app and pay for it on my ipad or do I have to have HBO on my cable plan on my TV?

It's only for HBO subscribers.

Can't just pay for the app

Just find a buddy that pays for job tell him you will pay he 5 bucks a month for his login. He probably will just give it to you

Find someone who trusts you and get their login info. I'd gladly pay for HBO Go, but I don't want to have to pay for the rest of cable.

Aren't they thinking about offering it without a subscription? Or was that just a rumor?

Just find a friend with HBO and get their cable login. No limit on how many devices are on, similar to Netflix.

Netflix caps you

You can only be watching on 2 things at one time

And a buddy said he got a message that his Netflix was on to many devices. Made him delete some stuff

I believe they are considering it BUT it sounds like it will be offered from internet providers. So Comcast, Cox, etc will still control it.

HBO & HBOGo are the only things keeping me on cable.

I use my parent's login and get HBOtogo on my Roku. Really only use it for GOT and True Blood.

Netflix only allowing 2 devices is false. We have it on sister's PS3, my Roku, mother-in-law's roku, and brother's smarttv. We all use it with 1 password(sis pays for the netflix). Never rec'd any msg from netflix.

that and sports.

If I could subscribe to Espn and FoxSportsSouth outside of Cable, on top of HBO, I would probably get rid of it

I thought the limit was 5 devices, but I'm not 100% sure.

Same here. Both iPhones, my kindle fire, our DVD player, and I've streamed from a laptop. But I don't think laptops count. But that's still 4 devices I have registered.

With Netflix I'm pretty sure you can register up to 5 devices at once and only two can simultaneously be running it.

I share an account with my brother and two sisters so sometimes one of us gets frozen out for a bit.

HBO Go lets you register unlimited devices as far as I know. I have no idea if it caps how many people can use it at the same time.

Game of Thrones set a piracy record after it aired. Surely HBO has to be thinking about a way to make HBO Go a standalone service.
