Went from being the most popular show of all time to everyone hating it in just one season.

Not that I can think of.

No rewatching at all, no recommendations for others to start it, no interest in finishing the books if they ever do get published, no interests in listening to podcasts about it, just done.

ETA: maybe Cosby Show reruns.

I'm softening on it as time goes by. I still recognize the last season(s) as shitty but I think in a few years I could do a rewatch and enjoy the series overall.

I think people started to turn on it the season before but we're willing to give them the chance to tie it all up and then it just became a complete joke. The highlight of the last season were the memes making fun of it.

I sort of just forgot about Game of Thrones.

I started reading them in 02 or 03. Even got GRRM to sign one of my first editions. So to run through those books, have some really good seasons fueling the fire, and then get S8 is like having great sex and then going limp

And unfortunately, about all of the movies that followed after that

Probably not

Homeland went from elite to laughing stock really quickly, but then it got a little better and didn't end at it's lowest point (unlike GOT).

Dexter reached its pinnacle in season 4 much like Game of Thrones and it’s series finale is probably the worst one I’ve seen besides Game of Thrones but even then it still doesn’t touch that screw up. Weeds was really good through the first two seasons and then it went downhill with the quickness. Entourage got pretty terrible towards the end as well but at least it was still entertaining in parts.

Limited to television?

Because going from Superman 2 to Superman 4 might give it some competition.

Never reached the height of GoT and the last couple seasons we’re going downhill but House of Cards first couple seasons to being cancelled on the back of the Spacey sexual allegations is pretty bad.

GoT was bigger but How I Met Your Mother kinda killed their syndication potential with their last season. Was a fun show to watch reruns of until they released that dud of a last season and ruined the show.

TWD was quite popular but very few people considered it arguably the GOAT show. Most people realized the show wasn’t very top quality by the first few seasons.

In terms of IMMEDIATE fall from grace? I think Game of Thrones really does take the cake.

Other big popular franchises have ruined themselves more gradually, obviously there's Star Wars as a biggie, but also smaller things, the Terminator franchise for example.

The shite ending to Dexter was bad. But Dexter wasn't the smashing success and universally popular like GOT was.

Not even close. GOT is the GOAT example of shitting the bed.

ETA: Its like they had this great story they were basing the screenplays off of, got halfway through and said "Frick this, let's skip to the last page of the story see what happens and summarize it and be done."

We watched all those character arcs play out for years for nothing. Dont even get me started on Littlefinger....frick it, dude was super complex, had you guessing what schemes he had going at all times, and they just walked up and slit his throat with no insight or conclusions to his arc. Nightking sound familiar.....awe damn I'm mad all over agin......

Most channels basically refuse to show the color episodes of The Andy Griffith Show so that should be one
