It looks like the second half of 2012.
2012 was a live action cartoon. Other than some casual explanation of ' geo changes ', we didn't really get what was causing the world to randomly destroy itself.
Here, we get a very believable scenario, with fine actors, and what looks to be some decent FX.
I see it as Deep Impact, but no hero astronauts around to save the day.

This movie was supposed to come out in the summer and has been delayed one month at a time. I’m hoping December 18 is the final time

Gerard Butler's career took a weird turn.

Found out you can stream it now after seeing this thread. It's pretty good for a disaster flick. There was one or two cringey moments but I thinks they handled much of the stuff tastefully instead of being cliche.(even Gerard's half american/scotch accent in the movie )
Spoilerish:
As far as the impact realism, i didn't have any major issues on my first watch. The celestial body is a comet that came from outside the solar system, 12 miles wide, impacting western Europe. The sun fragmented it and likely is how it was found. Central Florida was turned into a giant lake and Socal was wiped out. I was curious if the impact would be an airburst when it's that large, and what its actual momentum would be on impact. The air heated enough to burn up much of the planet, but 7 months after impact there was plant growth again along with some birds and bands of survivors finally making communication again.

I just finished it, and it was better than I expected! All of the tension and sense of chaos it wanted you to feel was effective. Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. It was a bit over-the-top but the performances were convincing. It's a good watch.
