Goodfellas... Jimmy cleans house

I can't hear Layla and not think of this scene.

Runner-up is almost any song from Dazed and Confused, greatest music film of all time to me. But the intro with Sweet Emotion stands out.

Dazed intro

Edit: to be more specific... not including scores

Final 20 minutes of Last of the Mohicans.

Without the music, it's just a well edited running scene. With it, it's one of the best sequences you'll ever see.

Honorable mention goes to Blue Danube in 2001.

Honest answer, when you play Echoes by Pink Floyd over the last scene of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Both the song and scene are exactly 23 minutes long. You gotta try it sometime.

But my answer for this thread is the same movie, when the monkey uses a tool for the first time and we hear Also Sprach Zarathustra.

OP might want to define his criteria of music — musical score or popular songs.

Tarantino movies always seem to be spot on with its soundtrack selection but they are not always a thing of classic scored greatness.

And, you rarely see a movie stirringly scored by JWilliams, HZimmer, JHorner, Etc. that include popular music. Forrest Gump was one of the few to successfully clear both hurdles.

Maybe because I was ten, but the first dinosaur reveal with the main Jurassic Park theme is etched into my head.

To be more specific I meant popular songs, not necessarily film score

Slow Ride and Hurricane and School’s Out, for me.

The image of the guys walking into the pool hall with Bob Dylan and the violin playing in that track just stands out as the kind of badass that you could only really feel/pull off with the hubris of being in high school.
Dazed & Confused - The Emporium

Also, Running on Empty in Forrest Gump

Tiny Dancer - Almost Famous

It's hard to imagine this scene with any other music, its just become so iconic.
