I was watching Addams Family on Freeform last night and I was reminded of how fantastic of a performance Raul Julia put in as Gomez Addams. Without him, the movie would be an entirely forgettable 90's reboot the likes of The Beverly Hillbillies.

What are some other examples of great acting performances in otherwise bad movies?

RIP Raul

I don't know what you're talking about, most of those movies is pretty wonderfully cast. They are children's movies for sure, but they pretty much nailed every character.

My thought exactly.

The two "Addams Family" films were not bad movies.

Frank Langella as Skeletor in Masters of the Universe. He absolutely goes for it and apparently improved a lot of lines. He turned in a Shakespearen performance and has some awesome monologues.

That movie is pretty terrible. I mean, there are some GREAT parts of it, but overall it's a bad movie. Bill Murray is still absolute money in it though.

Gary Oldman in Darkest Hour. Didn't like the movie, but Oldman was amazing.

Robin Williams in Mrs. Doubtfire

If we are honest the only reason anyone loves this movie is because of Robin's performance making a borderline lunatic into a lovable and heart warming father figure

do we like the mom? no she is a grade A count patrolling the single waters for a physical upgrade to her husband and even moves to take away parental rights from the father of their children

do we like the kids...not really they are all whiney and annoying

what about the TV exec...no the dude is weird as frick

and James Bond being attracted to Sally Fields is also probably the biggest reach in the whole movie

Tupac Shakur in Above the Rim.

Above the Rim is a mess outside Tupac. The mentorship story is cliche and there are ridiculously stupid moments like when Nutso accidentally jumps off a building while playing basketball.

Tupac is really compelling and natural as Birdie, and he redeems a lot of the movie by himself.
