When Joffrey dies, who has the next right to the throne? If he marries the cute new girl from another land, does she assume the throne as queen?
Right now, little brother would be named King, with Cersei continuing as Queen Regent and Tywin the Hand (and presumabably Jamie as the Hand, once Tywin dies). The only way Margaery gets to be queen regent is if she marries Joffrey and has a baby boy really, really quickly. I'm not sure she has that kind of time, as Joffrey's clock seems to be running out. EVERYONE (except maybe Cersei) at the small council meeting was thinking "So sad that we have to kill this little MFer, even as the war is ending."

I don't think anybody was thinking about how sad it is to have to kill him...just about how necessary it is because he's such an a-hole.

One thing that stuck out to me is when Tywin says "the Stark men are dead" and says Bolton is going to run Winterfell until Tyrion and Sansa have a son.
Dude has no clue about Bran and Rickon, yet he seems so sure of himself. It will be interesting to watch how that story unfolds, with Bolton knowing about Bran and Rickon but the Lannisters being in the dark about it.
I expect Bolton will try to hunt down the boys and use them as bargaining chips.

Yeah, my point was - the others - the decision makers have all concluded, "We have to kill him, now." Varys, Tywin, Tyrion - I take back "everybody" - Pycelle is still kissing Joffrey's arse.

Yes - Tywin just had the King sent to bed without supper. THAT'S power.

Tywin issues all of the orders. If Tywin had been in King's Landing when Ned was captive, the whole war would have been avoided, as his execution would have been countermanded - Tyrion didn't understand how things worked at that point.
I blame Varys and Tyrion for things getting out of hand - Varys should have known better and should have at least empowered Tyrion to stop it. But I digress.

This has been touched on before, but with Dany still in no-man's land, Stannis looking to help out at the wall and Arya possibly looking to head to Braavos, there's potentially going to be a lot of travelling going on next season. Those are all pretty lengthy journey's looking at the map.
The Arya storyline is mere speculation at this point.

Pycelle's just as much of an operator as the rest of them. He kisses Joffrey's arse publicly, but he'd be the first to turn on him if it meant he got to maintain his position. Pycelle's been the maester in King's Landing for how many kings in a row? He knows what he's doing.

I guess that's all a blur - I remember Tyrion exorciating Cersei.
Heck, I forgot then - who was acting as The Hand? Cersei (really Queen Regent)? Jamie? I completely forgot.

Perhaps that is why crap got so out of hand. I seem to recall Cersei attempting to talk some sense into ole Joff before he went out to address people. I think he was all your right mom I shouldn't cut his head off, but then went out and cut off Ned's head.
