Godzilla:KotM Spoilers/Discussion Thread
Posted by TheeRealCarolina on 5/30/19 at 5:14 pm104
About to catch it in a bit, will post after.
Well that was awesome. I have some minor nitpicks about Vera’a character’s motivations but other than that, wow.
Talk about opening up a cinematic universe in an epic way. Hopefully Kong vs. Godzilla is to the MonsterVerse what The Avengers was to the MCU, because I want all the kaiju movies.

Just got out, I loved it.

So it did not suck like the snobby critics said? I plan to see it ASAP.

This one has polarizing written all over it.

I got everything I wanted out of a Kaiju movie. I don't give heed to rotten tomatoes or any other critics.

That's what I want. I am not expecting some Oscar nominated flick I want to have fun. Take my grandkids buy some popcorn and watch the fights.

Just got out. It was awesome. Didn't care for the mother at all, but it wasn't about her. I paid to see the monsters fight and that was awesome.

Yeah I checked online after the movie. Was hoping theyd tease King Kong vs. Godzilla but I thought it was cool how they implemented it into the sylized credits

I just got out. I can definitely understand the mixed reviews. The CGI and monsters themselves were spectacular, but the acting and characters and plot were so cheesy and lame.

So it’s basically Detective Pikachu?
BTW I’m totally cool with that and will see it.

There actually wasn't as much fighting as I was expecting, and any scenes that didn't involve the monsters were shitty. Certain scenes reminded me of Cloverfield & Jurassic Park with the teen girl trying to play a female T2 era John Connor. On a scale of 1-10 I'd give it a 6.

What percentage of the movie would you say involved monsters fighting? 10%, 25%? Just trying to see if I want to spend money on this.

I’m pretty much only watching this to get ready for Godzilla vs. Kong because I am all about that hype train.

Kong flinging supertanker sized feces vs Big G, who is going to roast his arse with some Chernobyl breath and make him wish he had stayed on his little f-ing island.
Can’t freaking wait!!!!!!

Actual fighting? Maybe 15. It’s a slow-building story arch, Godzilla presumed dead, leading to all the Titans being brought out of hibernation to help save the planet, but the plan backfires. The kid has way too much involvement. Everybody’s concerned about the girl and the mom and redemption for the dead brother when meanwhile thousands of other innocent people are dying. Walking around in Antarctica with lightweight parkas with the hoods down. A lot of little things that are just dumb. It’s worth checking out, but I have zero desire to rewatch it. If you just want to see cool looking monsters and some decent fights with zero concern for background story, you’ll likely enjoy it. There were a few people who clapped at the end. I’m a pretty tough critic. That said I had my 10-year old son with me and afterwards he said, “It was ok, it was good.” I could tell he was bored during the filler scenes.

About 20% fighting. But the quality on this one is far superior to Godzilla 2014. Godzilla can throw hands (claws?) like a boss. Ghidorah was a hoss too. They really gave you more of a sense of the wonder, scale, and impact of the kaiju in this movie. They really are a force of nature.

Yep, Ghidorah (aka Monster Zero) made Godzilla his bitch for most of the movie. Ghidorah was badass
