No, winter is not coming… not in 2018, at least. You’re going to have to keep waiting for THE WINDS OF WINTER.

I hope people finally realize they will never get a completed book series by Martin.

1,000 pages on Targaryen history...but he can’t finish a book in 6 years

Very glad I didn’t start reading the books.

Same. Won't even consider starting them unless he finishes the series.

There is a newer article than that blog post in which he states that his publisher wants him to separate Winds into two books. That worked out so well last time !

You ‘member when he said part two would be able to come out in a year or two because so much of it was already written?

I ‘member.

Man, he really needs someone in his life (publisher/editor) to tell him "no!" and "hurry the frick up!" There's got to be someone on the publishing side with the power to tell him he needs to cut a lot of shite out. This one book into two books shite is nonsense.

To be fair to the publisher they probably just want a fricking book to sell.

"Oh youve got half of it done? Well write a catchy cliffhanger put a cover on the bastard and lets go to print! IT'S BEEN SEVEN YEARS YOU COCK!"

I remember a few people on here being adamant that he would release WoW the winter before GOTs season 5 because there’s no way he’d allow the show to pass the source material

I'm actually starting to think he might be waiting to finish both books and release them together

you naive summer child.

I've written off any chances of getting another Song of Ice and Fire book, or the last King Killer book.

Both of those fatasses are going to their graves with unfinished works.

I've given up on the books. I won't buy them. I'll read downloaded epubs one day.
He's the worst author ever for this shite.
The reason he didn't finish is because he can't end his story.
At least we have HBO to do that

I'm not saying it's definitely the case. I just think it's possible. The guy has been thinking about the winter portion of his story probably since day 1, and he said he's always had a pretty clear vision for how he wants it to end. I feel like the story is at a place now where things can start moving a lot faster as the characters all come together and hopefully that means the process can move quicker as well.

He would be the GOAT if he actually did drop both without even hinting to fans what he was doing.

The question is why? Why would he release both books at the same time instead of just finishing and releasing one? I don’t think it really benefits anyone to drop two at once.

So as an author, his legacy will be that his laziness caused his magnum opus to have to be completed by other writers.

Is it possible he's written himself into a corner with the story and has no clue how to end it.

It has happened to him before with the Wild Card series he started up way back when (superheroes in the real world back before anyone was doing that).
