One of the best actors going, and has been for a long time now. Rarely have I seen him in a role and afterwards thought someone else could have done it better. I had no real interest in this movie until he was cast, will watch because of him.

I think Phoenix is gonna be great. I just think this is going to be a “Joker” movie in name only.
The two most interesting things about the Joker character - his mysterious origins and acting as a foil to Batman. Both of which I’m assuming won’t be in this movie.

I'll echo what alot of people have said in that an origin story for Joker seems to destroy everything that's central to his character in that we have no clue who the frick this dude is and what drives him.
BUT I also echo those who say that once Joaquin got involved I became intrigued just to see what he would do with the character.

All of these movies are DC Elseworlds or Marvel What-Ifs to me. To misquote Alan Moore, "They're all imaginary stories."
They gave the Joker a revised origin in the '89 Batman movie. I just wrote it off as a part of that particular film's universe and enjoyed it for what it was.
I just want a good movie. Joaquin Phoenix usually delivers that.
