I really have no interest in this movie. I was thoroughly underwhelmed by the last one and found the American Wizarding World to be extremely halfassed. It’s clear Rowling has little to no understanding of American history in order for this to be the Wizarding World. NoMaj? Only one Wizarding Institute that looks exactly like Hogwarts? This is just going to be mediocre like the last one. Rowling should have just handed it off to an American.

You have no idea what you’re talking about.

I agree she has an unclear view of America.

And the first one was just ok.

But this one is set in Paris which should be exciting.

The main concern I have is Johnny Depp

Yeah, I am pumped. Finally got around to reading the books last year. The books are so much better than the movies.

Looks good. Feels like they showed too much but that’s how trailers all seem these days.

Depp looks good just hope he doesn’t overdo it.

I have no problem with people being gay.

To make a character gay 15 years after writing his story to appease the SJWs is fricking asinine.

20 years of all those pages detailing Dumbledore's relationships down the drain. 20 years of boning Miss McGonagall and his relationship with Bellatrix suddenly mean nothing. To just pull the rug from under a character with such a detailed personal life just sucks. It's almost as if Rian Johnson came in and wrote the novels instead of the author who created and wrote the character. To just change something out of the blue when we were so used to him as a family man.

I should have guessed by your muted reaction you were fine with it all. Apologies.

Who gives a shite if he’s gay, but to be honest, I applaud JKR for that decision. She was called a witch for a good decade and evil by fundamentalist Christians, and by the end it was actually Christian literature that she was writing. Harry was an allegory to Jesus and Jesus’ sacrifice just as much as “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” was.

She couldn’t reveal her hand since that would ruin the end. So I don’t blame her for the “frick You” to the fundamentalists when she was writing something for them. Really save for the Dumbledore reveal, you haven’t heard a peep from the fundamentalists after Book VII was released since they had to realize at the end it had a very pro-Christian message.

Exactly, it's just a small part of the character.

Apparently JK Rowling does.

I liked the books and movies, but I didn't get this from it at all. People calling her a witch were ridiculous though, although more of a minority than you seem to think. It's no different than any other fantasy books or movies. There was nothing overtly sacrilegious in any of the HP books.

Looks good. Lenny Kravitz's kid bores the hell out of me, but she doesn't ruin movies, so I don't really consider it a flaw.

Rowling is extremely liberal, maybe don’t read the books if you have a problem with her political opinion. It’s her story, she has added a ton of backstory to a lot of characters well after the fact. She has fleshed out entire side characters on pottermore.

People are gay, it’s time for these religious nut jobs to stop letting it bother them. They aren’t wanting to have sex with you.

You think I'm a religious nut job?

I could give a rat's arse about Dumbledore being gay. If she wanted to be really progressive she should have made his arse gay 20 years ago. I would have even given her props for it. It would have certainly been unprecedented.

However, she didn't because she's a money hungry hypocrite who didn't want to turn away potential book buyers.

To do it now is a farce and pathetic.

It doesn’t even effect the story of the seven books, it’s not worth getting that worked up about.

Of course she wants money, who cares? Is capitalism bad now? Aren’t you supposed to be against those socialist a-holes.

She isn’t a struggling writer anymore, she can use her influence to support the causes she believes in, nothing wrong with that.
