its just not as strong as season 1 and 2. I guess those seasons raised the bar not, that nothing they can do will come close to that.
I was disappointed with tonights show I am starting to wonder if the show has run its course.

Yeah, I don't get that either. He said from the get-go that Walsh's cut wasn't good and that's why he tried to sell it to Harvey before Walsh got it in to Cannes.

one thought i had after watching is was vince's intentions when he went back to the party
i mean, is he really chasing this chick? or is he "playing the game" like he told ari he would
if you notice when they ran out of the party paparzzi was taking shots of them...would be a smart move for vince to get back into the publics eye to date a famous singer

I always thought that a funny twist in the show would be for Eric to become a bigger success than Vince (i.e. role reversal from seasons 1-4). But it appears the writers are going in another direction. I understand that a big part of the show's draw is buying into the fantasy of "being" Vince.
also, I agree that Kevin Dillon is carrying the show right now

The most significant event in a few seasons. The light coming on for Vince that he's wasting his career.
Exactly. I thought this was a very strong episode. They decided to take a different approach from this point forward. In prior seasons, it was always understood that Vince would come out of situations on top. At this point, that's not the case.

Agreed. A little adversity for the golden boy. I like it.

eric - finds his own success and develops his relationship with the Carla Gugino character as she becomes the mentor he always wanted Ari to be
drama - enjoys his own success with 5 Towns but his insecurity continues to eat away at him
turtle - continues to drift along being Vince's bitch
vince - becomes what he once said he hated - a cog in the Hollywood machine run by Ari and not his own man
ari - becomes Vince's confidant as Eric slowly pulls away from the group and vince comes to resent Ari's methods of sticking him in big studio crap projects and not letting him work on his "craft" in smaller budget films

I would suggest this:
turtle - turtle has been a more successful manager/producer than eric. He needs to get back into that.
vince - I thought he finally saw himself for the prick he was being and probably will end up trying to learn how to act which was a pretty big step for that character.

The dialogue is by far the best part of the show. I guess it just seems like it's moving slow because I'm used to watching the episodes one after another, rather than once a week.

Thought the same thing. This is the first season I've watched on TV and not on DVD. I'm thinking it was the wrong decision, but it had been so long since seeing a new episode.

So is this when Marky Mark goes from The Truth about Charlie to The Italian Job and The Departed?

I wanted to see more adversity for Vince.
This realization came a little too easily.
It seemed that the writers were using Justine treating Vince as washed up instead of the top dog as the catalyst here.
I wanted to see more Vince realizing that he didn't have the same cachet. People treating him like he was yesterdays news.
The closest they got was Justine pawning him off, and Tony Bennett mentioning he wanted to see the Aquaman sequel which Vince would not be starring in.
I was really pissed too at the scene with ari and vince. There was a chance for as real a moment between vince and ari as there ever could have been- and as piven locked in and was about to give it to vince straight, they pulled away to a wide shot.
bad directing on this part. Director bailed. Almost looked like they cut some dialogue.
There was a chance for grenier to show real hurt and confusion, but it was not built up enough. The rock bottom they showed for vince is still better than anything most could dream about- Oh so he got hooked up with the 5'10 Michella instead of Justine? Oh he was banging two girls at a time in Mexico? pooor vince.
That being said, I did like the honest dialogue about whether or not vince was a good actor or not. I think this E subplot with Lukas Haas is kind of annoying. And the Drama swingers scene was funny and inevitable.
Justine is clearly about to have the pants charmed off of her now, as vince said he was going to "charm the frick out of everyone". They made sure to show paparazzi taking pictures of them together.
And I'm sad not to see Baby Jac anymore. Chick was smoking.
All that being said, I've been watching Entourage since season 1, and i saw enough this episode to keep watching. After the first episode i wasn't so sure.

Vince is such a slapdick. I love how when he's ready to work, he gets all pissy cause there's nothing out there for him.
