Looks much more interesting than Bohemian Rhapsody.

Biopics are such a stale formula. No wonder Hollywood loves them right now

Looks like they gave us way more of the story in the trailer than they did for Bohemian Rhapsody.

Not really interested in the story, but if this were 1994 I'd run out and buy the soundtrack.

Troof! Ray was very good, and then the rest came along to all be forced messes. How Walk The Line received the praise it got is beyond me. It was a decent but very stale movie as are all the others.

Any future biopic has to top Walk Hard.

True.

While Phoenix was fine in it (for my tastes, I mean I grew up watching Johnny Cash), the supporting cast was just superb.

I've never really cared for the format because of all the compromises forced by Hollywood - Ray was unique because Jamie Foxx (and full disclosure, I don't think much of him as an actor outside Ray and Collateral) just stepped up and hit a homerun with the performance.

Biopics can be GREAT films (Schindler's List, Patton, Downfall, Goodfellas), but typically need some juice - a big war or equivalent event to take it to the next level.

Or, if it is a full on restrospective of a major art, literature, or political figure, it needs a homerun performance (which films like Patton also had), like Ray or Malcolm X.

I enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody for what it was, but I can't pretend it was the best movie I've seen in awhile.

Like Egerton. He will be singing for the movie as well.

Hope it’s good.

I don't know about yall, but I don't think Taron Egerton makes a convincing Elton John honestly. I have some doubts about he and this movie being any good.

I don’t think this kid is a convincing anybody. Just watched that horrid Robin Hood movie he starred in. Guy was so wooden and boring. Only thing he was good in was those spy movies.

They don't look in-depth which is annoying. They play it safe...it's all about the music and having a good time.

The days of music biopics showing warts and all are gone.

Every time I hear Rocket Man I think of Trump and Kim. It’s sad what has become of me :shame:

None of these are Biopics.

Just because a movie is historical doesnt make it a biopic. Downfall is about the last days of a person. Thats not a biopic.

How you think Goodfellas is considered a biopic...come one

What trailer did you watch? He looked pretty damn good to me. Every actor has a clunker where they mail it in. I thought he looked and sounded the part.

Movie looks interesting but idk how different it can be since most biopics can be dull at times. I’ll still watch

If it focuses on an individual's actions during that time, why not?

I mean, all Patton is concerned about is his actions from North Africa through V-E day and a little afterwards.

Goodfellas covers his life from grade school/middle school up to entering the witness protection program.

Maybe we're going to need some strict definitions. To me a "biopic" is a biographical film. Hell, under certain circumstances, I think it could follow a partnership (Abbott and Costello, for example). It doesn't have to be comprehensive.

If someone is still alive, they shouldn't have a biopic IMO. Make a movie with no bias attached to it
