Sounds like the buzz around it is pretty good. Apparently, the review embargo lifts tonight. A bunch of countries in Europe get to see it September 15th. Must be freaking nice.

It's already lifted. It's currently at 80% on RT

Isn't that bad for a site w/ rampant fake reviews?

I am both excited and dreading the release. I really don't want to be disappointed by another great novel that just drops a turd as a movie. I want this movie to be good so much.

I cant wait! I'm a huge fan of the original Movie an also enjoyed the SyFi series. I know there is some hate for the original movie but its on that list, if I'm flipping channels and find it on its an automatic watch for me, also have it in the cloud lol!

of course a great sci fi space opera only gets 85% on Rotten Tomatoes because it isn't owned by daddy Disney/Marvel.

frick these movie critics.

So do I.

That being said, hearing that they split the first book in half to do as separate films is a major positive. There is such a clear demarcation between the stories it is an easy dividing point.

The amount of hype y'all have had for this movie can only end in one way.

I've read all the books more than once. I also went to a 20 minute screening in Arizona last month, they also talked a little bit about the movie right after.

What I saw was pretty awesome, Villeneuve knows what he is doing. Of course the movie isn't Avengers 25 so its not good in the eyes of "critics".

Rotten Tomatoes isn't a grading scale, it's a Y/N thing. As in, is it worth watching, or not.
I don't particularly care for the Bladerunner or Mad Max movies, for example, but I'd still rate them a YES, they're tolerable to watch.

That isn't an 85 like a B in school, it means there are 15% that say it's BAD and not worth seeing at all.

Why do y’all give a frick what Rotten Tomatoes says about anything? Might as well ask an elementary school what they think of a movie. At least they will be coherent.

I'd still argue 8.5/10 people saying something is worth your time is a good thing for the movie.

I’m completely aware of what the RT score is

Maybe I'm hoping people are being somewhat honest

I would THINK, after basically a lost year, that a big budget SF movie would get a FRESH rating, if it was simply reasonably good. That to say "no, it's bad", it would have to actively suck.
Take Godzilla vs Kong, I would rate it as fresh. I don't think it was memorable except for the visuals, but it didn't make me turn it off or leave. I don't think it was groundbreaking or amazing, but that ain't supposed to be the threshold. It's supposed to be "is this good enough to watch?", and we haven't seen an entry in this genre in awhile.

Then again, I'd want to see the reviews they aggregate, and see what people are bitching about.
