Does the Jeffery Epstein case make you appreciate Eyes Wide Shut differently?
Posted by Jimbeaux on 3/30/20 at 7:59 am227
When the movie came out, there were statements made by many people in the industry that Stanley Kubrick knew about “things”, and that these types of powerful people and these types of activities exist.
Most people agreed theoretically that it was likely true, but most, like me, didn’t really want to know that these people and those activities really existed in large numbers. We were more comfortable keeping it at a distance. Keeping the people nameless and faceless.
I think that in light of the Epstein case and him being suicided, it feels more like cowardice to not acknowledge that the “ruling class”, the power brokers”, are thick with this amount of immorality.
It’s more than just the unbounded sexual morality or the sex abuse or the trafficking of sex slaves including child sex slaves, it’s the use of those things to exert power. Who holds the strings?
Eyes Wide Shut now seems tame compared Epstein’s Island.
Are our eyes still “wide shut”?

It was kind of the reverse for me. Eyes Wide Shut made me realize these sorts of things are happening.
I also think he's telling us a lot of different info in The Shining. It's just harder to interpret because it's more subtle.

I would like to see Stanley Kubrick's cut of the movie.

The symbolism throughout the movie is crazy to think about.

I heard that the Apollo moon landings were faked by Kubrick's film crew.
Yet, for 2001, they actually sent men into space to be filmed.

That shite occurs, I’m sure. There’s not much reason to believe that it’s extremely pervasive.
Interestingly, a friend of mine worked for Homeland Security, and a big part of his job was investigating sex trafficking. It’s not like there are underage orgies on every corner.
But the Epstein case demonstrates that some rich and powerful people are perverse.

men love to have sex, as much as possible
rich men have access to sex as often as possible
no, i dont think its some weird ritualistic bullshite, its just rich men getting their jollies off at parties, on boats, islands, etc.

Well, I’m not just talking about the sex orgies. I’m talking about the cultivated personae of Jeffery Epstein who hobnobbed with and provided “services” for presidents, royalty, and A-Listers of all sorts for years. And then when he got caught (the first time) for serious sex crimes, got a slap on the wrist and a pass from the DOJ and the Federal Courts.
We need to take the blinders off. This wasn’t just a rich playboy with a child sex fetish. This guy was an operative to obtain Kompromat.
Combine that with the Clinton/Podesta emails (re: Marina Abramovic), the Anthony Wiener sex crimes, the NXIVM (Nexium) case, etc.
Eyes Wide Shut is an apt title. We just can’t seem to look at this level of evil even when it’s right in front of our noses.

It seemed ambiguous regarding the freedom to participate or not for the young females. They sure seemed to be afraid for their lives.

The costume shop owner was pimping his teen daughter. That was the pedo moment.

Yes, but only because he couldn't use children to shoot those scenes. He gives plenty of other hints in the movie that children are the victims.
When Tom Cruise first enters the ceremony the girls are on their knees, but you can't see this because of their robes. They appear to be children if you've never seen it before.
Also the pedo bear references and much more.

Come on. You’re reaching. Prostitutes are on their knees so they’ll look like children? They’re hookers. They kneel for other reasons.

That one girl was killed by the group. She may have been there on her own originally but she knew they would kill her for helping an outsider.
