I know it was panned by the critics and it gets made fun of alot, but I absolutely love that movie. One of my top 10 favorites.

Nothing's free in Waterworld.

It had potential and I was excited about seeing it but no, I don’t love it. Cool concept but too campy.

I've always enjoyed it. It's not a masterpiece, or realistic, but who gives a shite?

That's pretty weird though.

Film theory:

The Mariner is the great great grandson of the characters in the Shape of Water.

Jeanne Tripplehorn wasn't bad in it at all.

Some of the scenes are pretty cool. Some of it is silly. Could have been a very good movie....

I think that's why I like it so much. It's a great mix of action, comedy, drama, camp, nonsense, overreaching, etc....

It's not perfect by any means but that's one of the things that makes it great.

A remake with James Franco in Costner's role would be cool.

My Husband hates this movie. Sometimes he goes on a rant about which he hates more, Waterworld or Cabin Boy.

It's the last big budget all practical effects film. After this one "bombed" blockbusters started going heavy with chi sets rather than spend millions on practical sets.
Titanic was thought by many early on to be another Water World, but it was heavy with CGI. It turned out to be a money maker.

Quote used earlier because water world actually netted a profit eventually.

It's bad rap came almost entirely from how troubled a production it was. The press poisoned the public against it before it was ever even released.

It wasn't great but it was actually pretty dang good. Legitimately impressive they made a movie like that out in the actual water and was pretty entertaining too.

Plus it had an awesome shot of some chick's arse.
