I’m guessing this thread is only for kids that are home from school sick, boomers and genXers.
When he first started, he sucked, but he was replacing a legend. It was almost like Smoke Laval replacing Bertman, set to fail from the start. He was bad, making stupid jokes, just felt like he was uncomfortable up there.
He has finally come around in the last few years. He has settled down, goes with the flow, and is a good host.

It's almost an impossible task to replace Bob.

I haven't watched in a few years but I really liked Carey when I did.

I don't see it very often. When I do catch it, I get the impression that Carey wants to kill himself on stage sometimes. I don't think it is because of the hosting gig itself, but some of the younger shithead contestants that make their way up there.

I can't stand him as host. He just comes off as zero fun and the most unengaging personality/host. I will admit that I've never been a huge Carey fan anyway, but he didn't completely suck as the host of Who's Line.

While I don't get to watch tPiR often, whenever I do he seems to just come off as such a smug prick who doesn't want to be there and doesn't get happy when people win.

I enjoy the hell out of this channel. 70s and 80s Price is Right episodes are like a healing balm to my soul.

I will never forget how unhappy he was when the guy got the exact bid in the showcase.

YouTube Link

To his credit, he said he acted that way because he thought the guy was cheating, but still. Play it up man.

He’s no BB, but I think he does a decent job.

I hope he stays.

The no Crowd Covid shows are so lifeless and dull. And he sort of freaks out if people stand too close to him these days .

I watch it on the treadmill when I do cardio, as it helps pass the time and I’m not watching espn for an hour. Frick that

But when I went to a filming a few years ago, he was pretty nice and did talk to a breast cancer survivor who was there and talked about how people watch it everyday who are sick and elderly.

I used to watch The Price is Right every frickin chance I could when Bob hosted, and I haven't watched this show in years, but I agree with OP. It was hard replacing Bob no doubt, but Drew seemed awkward and out of place at first. Now, whenever I see it with Drew on, it seems he's gotten the hang of it. Drew is fine.

But didn't he also know who this dude was, and that he was basically a savant? In other words, he knew he wasn't cheating, and was just a savant that had gone to the show multiple times and finally got his shot.

I saw a video (or read an article maybe) on that situation before and can't remember the specifics.

Still find him to be very awkward and not a fit.

The correct answer is - It doesn't matter, so long as Rachel Reynolds always has plenty of camera time.

He does a great job. The entire group seem to actually like people. I quit watching when they went to the china flu format. That show needs an enthusiastic audience to work.

I like Drew, but I get the criticisms of him. He can come off a little stiff or disinterested at times. I don't believe he actually is though.

His standup routine was quick, sharp, and self-deprecating. My dad read his book years ago, and said it was vulgar at times, but he was in tears from laughing. His sitcom also had episodes featuring improvised scenes, meandering plotlines, and quirky characters.

Now he's hosting an institution of daytime television with contestants shrieking for him, and wearing his face on their custom tshirts. Bob Barker is still alive, too. As long as he's been hosting now, I think he's still like a fish out of water, and he consciously keeps himself restrained out of respect. I can see CBS influencing that as well.

No actually the savant guy was in the audience telling the guy on stage exactly how much to bid and how to beat every game.

Basically the savant guy is autistic and cataloged literally every price is right game ever as well as how much things cost so he knew not only how much every item cost but also how to beat every game.

There’s a whole documentary about it, it’s on YouTube
