A Midwestern city in 1909 that’s 90% black and all the blacks are affluent. Who would’ve figured. Disney is such shite.

Be thankful it wasn't Tulsa in 1921 and the Police Dogs turned on the black pit bulls

Black literacy was actually much higher in 1909 than it is today
Black society skyrocketed in sophistication following the Civil War and has been nosediving ever since LBJ

I really wanted to like it, but just like Disney’s other live action remakes, it was just soulless and didn’t have any charm

I thought they said it was Savannah?

I don’t have anything against Justin Theroux. He’s a serviceable actor, but he has a very grating voice and should never be given VO work ever again. He sounds like a robot falling asleep.
Also.... I don’t care about mixed race marriages at all but I do laugh at the concept of a prominent family like that able to be that open in society in the early 1900s in somewhere along the Mississippi.
I’m glad we’re at a point in society that it’s just ridiculous historically and not in actuality.
ETA: I don’t think other LA Disney performances have been soulless. Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Maleficent, and Cinderella were all good efforts and endearing IMHO.

It was probably an anomaly but those places did exist. Hard to say if they had any spaghetti eating dogs that fell in love though.

I was digging it until they got rid of the "We are Siamese" song. Lost interest after that.

OP hasn't even watched it, just saw some bitching on some political website and bitched about it here
But hey, he's got a fake aircraft

Don't be mad because Disney is woke.

Well it sounds like a real winner movie that needs some whipped guilty white boy to reflexively defend it.

Jock being a female dog made a lot of sense too. Wtf?

We've had a century of Hollywood shoehorning whites and Americans into other cultures and historical eras just so audiences would have a familiar reference. Watch it. Don't watch it.
