The Black Panther announcement isn't surprising. Figured it would ultimately get pushed back at least a year.

These seem reasonable.

They move Strange back to May which is better for box office than March. To make room for Strange in March, they moved Thor to July. They necessitates moving Black Panther to November, which is a quality month for box office in the fall.

And now that May-July had two Marvel movies competing for the box office, best not to cannibalize Indiana Jones and just postpone it until 2023.

Can we just go ahead and cancel Indy 5?

A lot of these movies are dependent on non covid box office markets
It's why they keep pushing Top Gun 2 back
Otherwise, they are going to take a bath from a financial standpoint

So are the Avatar sequels still coming out in 2022?

I know some people working Black Panther 2 and every time I talk to them, the production is on a different hiatus. No surprise there.

Whew! Glad it's just those movies, the Rian Johnson Star Wars trilogy must still be on track!

This gives them time to fire Shuri (since the actress is vax-skeptical) and recast/reshoot.

Agreed. So glad they left the series at Last Crusade, where Indy LITERALLY rides off into the sunset. Just a perfect way to send off such a fantastic character.

Would have been terrible had they come back to it years later just to mine some more money out of it...

That's only like 6 weeks. Not like it's moved back a few months, or back to 2023.

Yet, always a possibility with the Mid-term election variant of Covid around the corner.

4 was one of the better Indy films. Not sure how you missed it.

There was no 4th Indiana Jones film. You are mistaken.
