Did you enjoy the movie “It Follows” (2014)?

Felt like watching a good horror film tonight and came across “It Follows”. This movie had a bunch of good reviews, and also had a bunch of people in the comments of the trailer talking about how good it was. I got excited, as I haven’t seen a really good horror movie in a while.
Long story short, I thought this shite was terrible. Like one of the worst movies I’ve seen in a while terrible. The whole “demon passed through sex” plot seemed interesting, but the writers just didn’t deliver. For one, it was pretty damn boring throughout. Also, I don’t think they did a great job of explaining how it all started to begin with. The ending was especially terrible.
I very rarely ever hate a movie but I just don’t see how this film got such good ratings. Is this an unpopular opinion?

Give me a break. Are you that picky?

No. That movie annoys me just like that shitty Bobadook garbage. Both bored me when the characters weren’t pissing me off. Miserable experiences.

Has one of the best opening scenes to a horror movie ever.

One of the best horrors of the 2010s....

Saw it on opening night, and didn't like it. Went back and watched it again, on the off-chance I missed something, once it was on HBO. Still didn't like it.
It's a glorified allegory for STDs.

Explaining the horror would make it not scary. Not explaining it was a great thing.

One of the great homages to classic horror. The use of sound to build tension in that movie is awesome.

I thought it was entertaining but underwhelming given the high praise it receives. I watched it to kill time at work, wouldn't watch it again or on my own time.

loved everything about it

That's a high standard. I'd put it a notch below the true elite like TRAIN TO BUSAN, GREEN ROOM, THE CONJURING, AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE, and HEREDITARY, but it's still really good. It's got a unique premise and as mentioned, that opening scene is gold the drop you straight in and don't bother with too much exposition to drag the thing out.
I do think the second half of the movie gets a bit silly, and the whole swimming pool scene is a promise not quite delivered upon. Still, I love the film's aesthetic and how you can't quite pin down the time period. and I like "inevitable" monsters that just keep coming like the tide.
I'm a fan.

good movie. 1st half was amazing and the 2nd half was kinda meh, but it was well done

I mostly get annoyed with horror movies that get hyped up by critics. Over the last decade, It Follows was one of the few of those that I actually thought was a decent movie.
Babadook was straight trash. I hated that movie.

I enjoyed it. There's a lot to unpack with this film and the director does a great job of building tension in subtle ways. He confuses the audience in brilliant ways. What time period is this movie?
We see a character with a futuristic clam-shell e reader, but the phones are corded, the tv's old, and the cars are old. this was purposefully done.
Even the seasons don't match up. Is it summer, or fall?
Parables about rape, sex, and std's. As I think the creature is a physical manifestation of an STD.
He does a great job of building tension throughout the film. Why does the creature take on forms of people the characters sometimes don't recognize? Would be a hell of a lot easier if it did. Watch it again with some of this in mind. It may change your perception of it.

It was decent, but vastly (and I do mean VASTLY) overrated on this board. I went in expecting groundbreaking stuff, and it was nothing like that. I won’t go as far as to say it sucked, but I was super disappointed.
