Did the Gold Rush fellas ever hit it big in the season finale?

They found the most solid nuggets yet in the glory hole, and they were digging it out for hours.

Sadly they did and they didn't. If they weren't such a motley crue of screw ups they would be Millionaires right now. They almost got to bedrock and the gold they were looking for. The dirt they were cleaning right up to the very end was very "hot" as they called it. In the end they got ~14 ounces.
The way I see it is that once the second season starts in the spring they will go back and get to the stuff they wanted. It won't take them near as long and now that they are experienced and have decent equipment the gold will be much easier to get.

How much did Discovery pay these guys? How did they pay for all the stuff if they were 250k in the hole and only found 20-25k worth of gold?
