Time to move on from that Universe.
It should have ended - and it would have perfectly - with Logan.

They went way down hill with Apocalypse.
With the leaks from the filming, the only good stuff has been shown in trailers. The rest is Evan Peters trying to salvage something while McAvoy and Fassbender wonder what the frick happened and move on to another movie.
ETA: the real answer is Simon Kinburg though.

the story, which was the best in the history of the x-men comics and lines up perfectly with an audience that clearly loves space oddysey comic movies now, and the studio absolutely butchered it, juts like they did every single other x-men movie.
Dark Phoenix is an amazing story if
1. You care about Jean and Scott
2. You like cosmic storylines
That shite should be so easy to do, but they've been unable to get audiences to care about Jean or Scott in, now, 2 different attempts spanning 6 or 7 movies.
Has no one at Fox read a single X-Men comic? Do none of them know how important Cyclops is to the world? Can any of them even describe his character, like how his personality stands out against Xavier, Magneto, etc?

Tough to get people to care about Jean and Scott when you just introduced them as basically side characters in a movie that wasn’t very well liked. I just don’t get what the frick they were thinking on this one really.

Jean and Scott?!? Pshaw. Don't you know that X-Men is- and has always been about- Mystique?

Saw it last night and it was very forgettable. I did enjoy some of the fighting scenes in the 3rd act, but other than that...meh/5

X-men didn't reboot well on the second pass.

I'd love a Mystique and Rogue movie dealing with how fricked they are. And if we're being honest that's one of the better ways to get mutants into the movies and Captain Marvel brought in line power wise.
Go from there to the Brood storylines and they got a phase.

James Marsden put on a curse on Cyclops, he jumped from a sinking boat in X3 to a sunk boat to be cucked by Superman.

For me, it was because she married a Jonas brother.
Honestly, though, I don't know how a super hero movie bombs this badly. I guess the delay and word of mouth killed it.

This movie was DOA the second the Disney acquisition of Fox was announced.
When Feige announced that the ONLY Fox/Marvel property that was immune from any changes/amendments by Marvel Studios was Deadpool, rigor mortis stopped.

I'm taking a beating for my OP, but if superhero movies are for kids and it's summer vacation, I would think there would be a heck of a lot more people watching this movie unless more adults watch this stuff and they are staying away for a reason. Bad reviews, pissed off fans for whatever reason can affect a movie. It doesn't have to make sense because we live in a time where everyone is waking up each day looking for a reason to get triggered over something and movies, TV and politics are your best targets.

Are pissed off GOT fans taking things out on this movie?
I was not satisfied by the ending of Game of Thrones, either. But my dissatisfaction was not the result of Sansa's role. Sansa wasn't my favorite character, but she also wasn't a big drawback either. I didn't think the actress did a terrible job, or a great one either (she certainly didn't ruin scenes she was in).
If some generic film comes out with one of the actors (say, Bran, Joffrey, Ramsay, etc), I think it gets a boost... (oh, I know that guy).
I'm certainly not boycotting a superhero film because of a fantasy TV show.

The Solo movie paid the price from TLJ even though it was a decent film.
A) in that same film universe, from the same production company;
so people were using their wallets to express frustration with the last film (and hopefully force a change in direction going forward).
B) unnecessarily fleshed out a major character's past. That debunked a lot of legend, and reduced the overall prestige of said character;
so poor reviews came from those disappointed in the minimizing of the character (and by extension the OT).
I guess I just fail to see any connection here. Godzilla KOTM didn't suffer because Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister) was in it; if anything it got a boost.

Early rumors on Marvel's plans for X-Men say they want Xavier, Wolverine, and Cyclops as the main members and they're pretty much open to anything after that. Supposedly Marvel wants to correct the way Cyclops was handled at Fox. They made some edits and reshoots for Dark Phoenix which worked out well.

Well, Tywin was long since dead when GOT was firing on all cylinders and his character had nothing to do with the last several seasons. Tywin was awesome too! Loved his character and he was a true a-hole until the end.

I saw it sunday night and enjoyed it. I honestly don't see what all the negativity is about. Its just like every other superhero movie. The train fight scene was badass!
I don't critique superhero movies that much and just enjoy them for what they are. With that said, marvel really f'd up ironman 3 with the mandarin being a fraud thing. Really pissed me off with that one.
