I think so. Essentially a prototype for The Matrix, the acting is pretty solid and the story is nice and gritty.

Like Blade Runner, it kind of marries film noir and science fiction. Probably the first thing I ever saw Rufus Sewell in and he is generally an excellent, underrated actor.

It almost feels like Memento meets The Matrix (or Blade Runner, if you like) and I mean that in a good way.

Yes, its one of the better sci fi movies of the 90s.

I really liked it when I first saw it but the last time I sat through the entire thing was like 20 years ago so I have no idea if it holds up.

I enjoyed it. It came out around the time that it seemed there were a lot of movies dealing with alternate realities(The 13th Floor, the Matrix, Existenz, Sliding Doors, Donnie Darko to name a few).

I just remember how much Roger Ebert gushed over this movie when it came out. I think he renaked in like his top 5 best movies of 1998... And thats the same year as Saving Private Ryan, Thin Red Line, etc.

It kind of laid the groundwork for the neo-noir Sci fi stuff that followed over the next 3-5 yrs.

It's still a fricked up movie, but definatly worth watching once.

Watch the director’s cut or turn off the sound for the first 2 minutes or so.

Great film but the theatrical cut’s voiceover basically wrecks the film by spoiling a huge plot point that it takes about an hour or so to get back to.

Yes. It was a good psychological thriller, and Jennifer Connelly is fine as hell.

Hell yea.

It’s a cool, fun sci-fi movie.

The Matrix before The Matrix.

He even recorded a commentary for the DVD.

It's excellent. I tend to lump Blade Runner, Brazil, and Dark City together since they look so similar and have dark themes. And they are three of my favorites.

Rufus Sewell is very recognizable from his role as Obergruppenfuhrer John Smith in the Man in the High Castle.

Keifer Sutherland gives a rather strange performance for him.

William Hurt is a detective that is almost exactly the same as the Russian detective he plays in Gorky Park, and I enjoyed that.

Jennifer Connelly is Jennifer Connelly.

It's definitely in my top 10 for Sci Fi, possibly top 5.

I really like Dark City. Saw it multiple times in the theater. Haven't seen it in probably 10 years. Would watch it if it came on my cable tonight.

That was a creepy role for Kiefer Sutherland. I thought he was really good in it.

Never realized the tall guy was Bruce Spence, the helicopter guy from The Road Warrior.
