Watched this today, contemplated suicide.

Added to list of movies that should have been good, but sucked, and therefore piss me off to no end.

Good cast, decent yet unoriginal idea, story had promise - if kept simple. A nice character drama-comedy.

Instead, over-writing the story destroyed it. A good editor would have cut out 20-30 minutes of that film.

I'm sure it's a favorite here.

Actually it is. But "here" generally has good taste so I don't expect anything less.

I am curious too.

Movie/TV usually has good taste in general. But some buy into the hype too much. This movie is an example.

I enjoyed it and Gosling shirtless inspired me to Photoshop all of my Myspace pictures.

Definitely not a shot. I respect the board prowess even if a little over zealous sometimes.

And I thought the movie in question was pretty good (Ryan Gosling shirtless just a bonus). The twist was well-written. And at this point what hasn't been used in romance comedies?

It's got Ryan Gosling in it therefore the board is obligated to masturbate over it ad nauseum.

No matter how meh it may be.

Interesting that you guys thought it was well-written and unexpected.

I thought it was frivolous bordering on downright silliness. I'm too smart for unnecessary and unwelcome plot twists. Good stories don't really need to try to fool the audience.

That said, glad you guys enjoyed the film.

Too smart for unnecessary plot twists? Now that doesn't sound pretentious or anything.

It's a Romcom. Not an Oscar-worthy drama.

I was pleasantly surprise. I got it for the wife because she loves romantic comedies, and it was a win win.

I wasn't trying to offend or be pretentious.

I went into that movie blind - no preconceptions. I wasn't sure what to expect.

That said, I stand by my statement. I'm too smart for awkward plot twists that make movies worse.

The movie could have been good if it wasn't for bad writing and editing. 80% of mainstream movies are crap, why take that cast and ruin something that could have been good?
