It was at 100% yesterday, I thought to myself that can’t be right. It looks like critics are looking at it as a fun summer popcorn flick

Jesus. Are we going to get any good movies this year?
Posted on 7/12/19 at 9:31 am to JS87
Did you consider that it might be entertaining?
Posted on 7/12/19 at 9:32 am to JS87
It's just B movie fun. The premise on its face is absolutely absurd.

it's tongue-in-cheek aquahorror schlock. Aja has some solid credits, I'm sure this could be a fun theater experience

It's a bunch of alligators eating people for an hour and a half. I'm all in.
Don't watch the movie if you want an oscar worthy performance.

Isn't Sam Raimi the producer? He is excellent at making something that looks like it should be shite into something very entertaining.

It's directed by Alexandre Aja, who also did Piranha 3D, Horns, and The Hills Have Eyes remake. He makes very entertaining gory horror flicks. I might go see this tonight.

Looks like a garbage lake placid.

This is going to be a surprise hit, IMO. It has a budget of only 14 million and it's getting great reviews. It seems like people have been wanting a good, disaster/creature movie for awhile.

When I saw the trailer for Crawl, I immediately thought of that movie. I found it very entertaining

Here's a negative review:
Here's a positive review:
It seems like it is what it sounds like, solid, campy fun that you'll like unless you try to read themes like Climate Change too heavily into it.

"Crawl" doesn't exactly deliver the most elegant metaphor for the rising crisis of the environment, but the simplicity of that message is exactly the point.
Here's a positive review:

I don't know why Paramount hid this one from most movie critics, but it's a rock-solid genre flick that delivers on its promises.
