Cox cable bill(kinda long)

Got my bill today. I was getting the reduced package and paying $121 for phone, internet and cable(no movie channels, 1 HD DVR box). My bill went to $166. Called customer service and the rep would not tranfer me to the retention center but decided to "cut me a deal" on his own. He claimed that the $166 charge was a mistake and that my bill was scheduled to stay at $121. Asked him for my credit of $45. All he could "work up" was $35. Told him I'm not paying $10 for a mistake they made. Still wouldn't budge. Told him I guess it would be OK for me to short pay my monthly bill by $10 since thats what they are doing to me. Asked to speak to his supervisor. At this point he reverses the $35 credit and hangs up on me. Calling back, I got the retention center this time. My monthly bill was scheduled to go to $181 today but they reduced it down to $144 which I still feel is fricking crazy. What are some of y'all paying for Cox and what services do you have. TIA

I pay like 155 for cable and Internet. One DVR and one HD box. I got HBO and WWE OnDemand as premium channels. That's about it. Higher than I wanna pay but what can you do?

It's shite like that why I went to U-Verse

Satellite won't wok at my apt cause the way it's facing and i can't put it on the roof. U-verse not available over here either. Cox is my only option.
That's what she said.

Sounds like Time Warner.. those bastards tried billing me $45 a month just for a DVR and a HD box.

What is this "reduced package"? $121 is great for phone/Internet/cable! I pay $177 total with taxes and fees, and that's with one CableCard ($2), Encore ($6), Control Plus on the phone($13), and unlisted number ($5.50 - what a fricking joke that is). I have one DVR and Preferred Internet. It jumped up to $202 before I talked them down to $177 last time. I don't know what all you have WRT these things I listed, but $121 is a lot less.

they tried that shite with my dad, our box was out and he had to take off 3 hours from work.
they came and tried to fix it did nothing then told him his bill was going up, he explained to them he wouldn not pay an increased bill because our cable was still out.
they said they could credit his account $4 a month. he went on a rampage explaining he had lost about $1,000 just taking off work to deal with them. just said screw it, cancel my service now, they told him he would have to pay for the upcoming month still since the cycle started the previous day. he laughed and told them if they really wanted the money try to come and get it.
next day we had DirecTV on our roof. he has been happy ever since

I pay $112, but that was a special rate they gave me when I called to quit a year ago.
I was ready to cut cable completely and just get hulu plus and netflix.
They offered me the HD expanded package, phone line and 30mb/s internet for $112. I imagine it will shoot up at the end of the month at which time I will once again call to cancel the cable and the phone. I've been thinking about going cell only for a long time and I think the time is now.

Forgot to thank you for that idea wooly. You mentioned it in a thread a while back. I checked it and can pick up all the four major networks and some other channels. Which is great because I am not in range to pick them up over the air.

Same shite with those bastards in Tulsa. Finally got sick of it and got DirecTV. I was paying around $200 for Cox and get the same with DTV for $70

I have Comcast. I pay $52/month for internet and cable.
I am on the lowest cable, where technically I only have 25 useless channels. But i have a TiVo box (which makes my bill technically $72 I guess, with that cost). I talked my way into a free cable card, which gives me all the HD channels for free.
I also use economy internet, the lowest one. But I'm convinced they do nothing except charge you more for "faster" internet. My boss pays for fast internet at our office, and my home connection is faster and more reliable.
They tried to raise my bill to $80 a couple months ago. I usually just freak out on them, develop a plan to cancel and buy hulu plus, and then they give me a $50 rate again.

I'm up to $200 now for cable and internet, and thinking of ditching it as well. Probably a dumb question, but if you switch to Uverse or DTV, what do you do for the internet, how is the service with that?

I pay $69 a month for DTV, for 2 TVs (whole home Genie). Then I locked into a $35 a month for 20Mb down, 10Mb up internet with Cox. I live Uptown New Orleans so I can't get UVerse.

If you have Uverse they offer internet. DTV you have to get it from someone else and have two separate bills.
