This episode is the one that got me in all the way. I would have loved the basic biverse premise regardless, but seeing that they are clearly putting more into character development and how said characters behave as counterparts is just brilliant. JK Simmons is incredible in his parts, so well that I've noticed he has passive mannerisms that are different for each Howard, like Howard 1 treading lighter when he walks than Howard 2. It would be interesting to read how the season was actually filmed with them having to do each role at different times.

This show is really good, in my opinion. I'm curious as to who "Shadow" will be. Is it a character we already know, or someone who will be introduced? What will be the purpose of the sleeper cells?

Is no one else watching this? Another great episode last night.

Love this show. I think it being on Stars hurts it though.

Well . . . we know who the sleeper is. Show is getting better and better.

I don't have Starz either, but I do have Terrarium TV.

Outside of a original series, Starz does kinda suck. I added it on to Amazon Prime.

Never watched Black Sails, but I imagine that the meteoric rise of Game of Thrones in the same timeframe has to do with BS going under the radar.

Unless you were just talking about the overall attention and anticipation of every GOT season being the reason it was overlooked. Spartacus, Black Sails, and Counterpart are the only Starz series I've ever watched. I just think their viewership isn't as strong since they haven't put out many quality shows.

Either way, I'd recommend watching Black Sails.

I only watched the first episode so far but it really has me thinking . How would incurious Pimp react if he met Renaissance Pimp ? What version of me am I ? Dude.....

Best show so far of 2018. It might be a better option to binge because of the two worlds and multiple plot lines and characters from each world. I haven’t had a problem keeping up, but some posters in this thread seemed confused after only a couple of episodes.
JK Simmons is phenomenal. Subtle facial expressions distinguish his two characters. He easily transforms between a timid office worker with a hound dog face to a seasoned bad arse spy.
Also Black Sails was really good.

I was meaning overall hype. Like the Rome thread - if it came out in today's tv ecosystem, Rome would be a runaway smash and last 10 seasons.

I'm hooked. I will finish watching the latest episode when I get home.
Two things that I wonder about:
1) what the hell is the end-game? GOT everyone wants the throne, etc.
2) Nothing personal and may just be my specific tastes but Emily does pretty damn good for herself in the relationship game.
In the show where her and Ian went to the other side's embassy, I was thinking how unattractive I thought she was and she opened the curtain to look outside. Holly shite, she's not good looking in the dark. I almost did a Fred Sanford when the light hit her.
On the prime side she had Howard and is now with Ian. On the alpha she has Howard and a younger attractive guy and both are head over heels in love with her.
Why?
She's not attractive and her personality is worse than her looks. I could see it if she was outgoing, friendly, funny or a ray of sunshine to make up for her appearance. Hell in prime she's an drug addict with a sandpaper personality.
I just don't see the attraction. If they are going to have someone with multiple men on both sides chasing them they should have gotten someone a little more attractive or written a better personality for the character.
It really makes me feel bad for Howard-alpha. He's truly in love with an ugly bitch who is dishonest and cheats on him on top of it.
Oh, good point by someone previously about which side we are on. I always just assumed we were the alpha side. That was before knowing about the epidemic and technology stuff. But we really could be what I have considered as the bad guys the whole time.

We have smartphones here, but their medical technology is much more advanced on the Prime side (likely out of necessity due to the flu epidemic).
Does anyone know enough about Berlin to ID the skyscrapers that appear in the transitions to the Prime storyline?
Im a big fan of the camera filter to differentiate between the two worlds, too. The Alpha side gets a yellow tint, while the Prime scenes get a blue hue, a la Traffic.

have they call the two worlds "prime" and "alpha" in the show, or is it that just from the synopsis?

Good question. It is either from the Counterpart wiki or captioning or maybe both.
I had forgot to set it up to record as a series and got behind. I went to the wiki to make sure I was watching in order. If it wasn't that it is in the closed captioning. When the Howard's are together they may do a Howard-prime and what he says and the same for the alpha.
ETA: I found one place that I had seen it. It's in the explanations of the episodes down the page. I think I have seen it elsewhere also. To do the explanations like when Prime met Alpha and when they tell each other things and is explained in type they use the "P" and "A" designations for them.
Counterpart on Wikipedia - episodes
"That night, Howard Prime imitates Howard Alpha at Emily's hospital and ambushes Baldwin"
"Emily Prime is told who ordered Howard Prime's rendition. Upon learning of imminent negotiations for Baldwin's return, Howard Prime visits Prime world ambassador Claude Lambert"

The producers use the Prime and Alpha designations in the short behind the scenes vignettes after each episode airs live.

What do y'all think of the pill situation with Clare? Did she really let it expire since she became a mother, or is she just telling that to Peter to try and play him some more? If she really did let it expire, then why did/does she keep helping people from the other side? I guess she fears they will kill her and her baby if she doesn't cooperate.
Such a good show.
