EXCLUSIVE: Coming off his Emmy nomination for his work as a writer on Saturday Night Live, Colin Jost is continuing to build out his film slate and looks to have landed a big IP to give his own spin to. Sources tell Deadline, Jost and his brother, Casey, have been tapped to co-write a new Untitled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film for Paramount Pictures.

Michael Bay, Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, Scott Mednick and Galen Walker are on as producers. Like the past two installments, plot details are being kept under wraps outside of the film revolving around everyone’s favorite pizza-eating, nunchuck-swinging life-sized turtles. Paramount relaunched the franchise with Bay’s Platinum Dunes in 2014 with a new spin different from the New Line pics from the 90s. The film went on to gross $485 million globally with a sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, bowing in 2016.

Paramount still sees the IP as a high priority at the studio especially after Nickelodeon announced it was relaunching the animated TV series with Seth Rogen exec producing for 2023.

Agreed. I assume it will be very woke and douchey.

It’s going to be about how the Ninja Turtles get kidnapped and Venus de Milo has to rescue them.

Shredder, the Turtles, and Splinter all die in an epic battle in the first episode and the show them becomes completely about April and Karai?

Would be TOTALLY SHOCKING!

I put no stock in Emmy’s anyway, but this still shocks me. I get the woke agenda, but there are better “Emmy-worthy” considerations than SNL.

Being said, I like Jost and Che on WU, WHEN their jokes are not politically motivated. I’ve never been triggered by other peoples perspectives or people joking about mine, but I genuinely find their attempt at political humor to be corny and lazy 90% of the time. I think >50 % of their off-topic jokes hit for a good belly chuckle. I like the banter between them; when Che calls out Jost for being a privileged, white guy, and Jost can’t defend himself bc it’s true.

There was no attempt at humor, they just repeated things Trump said during the week and waited for the audience to laugh.
